10 Things You Can Relate To If You Went To Church While Growing Up
Clarksville Now

My parents raised me in a church and I really appreciate it. The Lord has always been there for me and going to church every Sunday morning made me realize how much a role He really does play. He is my creator, my guide, my father, and I know He always listens to me when I need to cry, talk, or celebrate.

To me, going to Sunday School, church, and church meetings were always a treat. It was a time I saw some of my best friends who went to different elementary schools. I got to worship God and learn more about His journey in creating life and how He sent His son Jesus Christ to help teach us about him.

Going to these church meetings always held something new or something you looked forward to every year. Here are ten things someone can relate to by growing up in a Christian church.

1. The moment you see your church best friend after a long week without them

Elementary school is a hard life for a seven-year-old. All my greatest friends went to different elementary schools than me, but we went to the same church. As soon as I would see her I would run up and give her a hug. We would then sit and learn more about The Lord and giggle at the boys because they still had cooties..even in church.

2. The anticipation of what the snack would be before going to the main church service

It normally consisted of nutritious dunkaroos, pudding cups, Jello, or cookies.

3. The dreaded 30 minutes waiting to be released from Mommy's and Daddy's Service before children's church

Because the question of the day was always which adventure would Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber go on today?

6. When the theme for Vacation Bible School was announced

VBS was always one of my favorites. Whether the theme was a circus, swamp, or the beach it was going to be a blast. It always involved learning new songs,

Because what seven-year-old doesn't love everything about Christmas?!

8. When your best friend got the lead role in the Christmas play and brags about it

You really wanted that Silent Night solo dressed as Mary and being able to hold Baby Jesus. Instead, you're stuck as a sheep in the manger.

9. When it is time for the church's annual Easter egg hunt

This was the day we trained for. To run around a field, gathering plastic eggs was our destiny. They were filled with candy, numbers for prizes, and even money.

10. Thanking your parents for taking you to learn more about The Father, His Son, and The Holy Ghost

Like I mentioned previously, The Lord is my savior and always will be. If it wasn't for my parents taking me to church when I was younger, I wouldn't be the Christian or person I am today.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
