10 Things I Want My Best Friend At College To Know

Transitioning to college can be one of the best yet scariest things to happen to us. To many people, it is the start of a whole new chapter in life. It is a chance to find ourselves, to figure out who we want to be, and who we are. Everyone gets excited for this new chapter in their life and it is a time when we meet new people and create new friendships. Your best friend at college will be the one who goes through everything with you, supports you and loves you. Some things I want my best friend at college to know.

1. You're the one I can be myself around and tell anything to.

Thank you for accepting who I am. You're my best friend who accepts my weirdness and imperfections. I know I can go to you for anything and everything.

2. You're the one I want to go to when I have good and bad news.

College is hard when you don't have your parents around or your high school friends. It is great knowing you are there for me when I need someone to talk to. From getting an A on an exam to being homesick, I know you are there when I need you to talk to.

3. I would be an emotional wreck without you.

College is stressful and I know that if you weren't there for me, I would be going insane. You help me stay focused and you always give me motivation to do better in school and for myself. You're the one I go to vent about anything that is bothering me and I know you will always listen.

4. I want you to be a part of my life for a long time.

I already know that our friendship will get stronger these next four years. But I want you to know that I want you in my life for as long possible. You're the one I want to be having morning coffee on the weekends talking about our jobs and life as working adults!

5. I'm secretly dreading this summer.

I've had so many great and fun memories with you this year. Imagining the summer with out you is so sad! I'm so used to seeing you every day and now I have to go through a summer without you.

6. I will always be here for you.

Even on our busiest days, I'll drop everything and be there for you when ever you need me. When you need someone to talk to, a hug, or even someone to eat with, I am here for you.

7. We can never spend too much time together.

Don't ever think I'll get annoyed with you. I love spending time with you and creating more memories with you. I'll always be up to hang out with you even if it's during the middle of the night.

8. I will always try my best to make you happy.

I'm happy when you're happy. When you aren't feeling great I'll always try to put a smile on your face. You are always there to make me feel better and I want to do the same. Your smile makes me smile.

9. You always know when I'm not in a good mood.

You're always able to tell if I am not myself. You make me tell you what's wrong so I can feel better. I'm so grateful to have a friend who knows me well enough to see me at my worst and always tries to help me get through tough times.

10. Thank you.

Maybe I don't say this enough but I love you! You are the best and college would not be the same without you. Thank you so much for always being there for me when no one else was and for the love and support you give me. Thank you for being my best friend at college.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
