10 Things You Know To Be True If You Live In Tempe

Tempe, Arizona. The famous college town, where our beloved Arizona State University is. The majority of us here are Sundevils, but even if you aren't one, there are certain things that you know if you live in Tempe.

1. The Taco Bell on Apache is always lit

Nothing says yummy and cheap food like a quesarito at 2 am.

2. Tuesdays are for tacos (and tequila) and Wednesdays are for wine

Do you even live in Tempe if you've never had the AMAZING Fuzzy's Tacos on Mill?

3. Planning your 21st means making the hard decision between Mill and Old Town (but if you're a real trooper, you'll go to both)

And of course, if you're under 21, it means you'll be attending a lot of "power hours" until you're of legal age.

4. Deciding to go to an apartment party means you'll most likely end up at The Vertex (and then getting El P's after)

Living in a college town means managing to find a party every night of the week.

5. Domino's is the place to go if you want to see drunk people at 2 am on a Friday night

The Domino's on Apache never disappoints, especially when you can get a large for $7.99. If it isn't pizza, then IHOP is the next best drunk food.

6. There's no such thing as bees being endangered in Tempe, because they're everywhere (*cue ASU warning email*)

Somehow you never actually see these bees, even though the emails come in at least three times a week.

7. Palm trees. Everywhere.

Living in Arizona means you'll never get tired of seeing palm trees on every side of you. Oh, and also mountains and cacti.

8. The minute it starts getting hot (which can be as early as February), you debate Ubering everywhere

Do you really live in Arizona if you haven't experienced 110 degree weather and asked yourself "what am I doing here?"

9. Even if it's 4 am, there are still people everywhere outside

The beauty about Tempe is the number of 24 hour places to go to - from getting coffee at Dutch Bros to walking around campus (and getting junk food at the POD, at least until 3 am), there's always something to do late at night.

10. Dutch Bros is your go-to for when you need any sort of caffeine boost

Fun fact: if you want even more caffeine than usual, ask for a white coffee. It does wonders.

After being in Tempe, no one place will ever compare. If you get to call this town home, then you are lucky.

Vertex is Tempe’s premier student apartment community located within a block of the ASU campus. They also offer Arizona State University students the best amenities including- state-of-the-art fitness center, rock climbing wall, golf simulator, movie theater, and outdoor courtyard with resort-style pool plus more. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
