10 Things To Never Say To Someone With Tattoos

1. Did it hurt?

Any time a needle punctures your skin, you will feel pain.

2. But you'll never get a job with those.

I'll just move to Austin and keep it weird.

3. But you're so pretty.

Does the tattoo make me less attractive? Does it mean I'm less of a person? Does it mean you like me less? Oh, whatever will I do without your approval?

4. At least it means something.

Look, just because someone else's tattoo doesn't have a specific meaning, that doesn't make it any less beautiful or awesome or important to them.

5. Were your parents okay with that?

The majority of humans born before 1970 do not love tattoos. Use this as a rule of thumb when asking the above question.

6. What happens if they mess up?

First of all, the artist is a professional. They won't mess up. Second, please don't capitalize on my fears like that.

7. But won't it look bad when you get older?

If I'm sixty years old, and the only thing that makes me less attractive than I was when I was twenty-one is my tattoos, then I think I'll be pretty happy. However, I'm pretty sure the tattoos won't be my most unattractive feature then.

8. But tattoos are permanent.

Good, you looked up tattoo in the dictionary.

9. Is that real?

I'll say "No" just because I can.

10. I don't think I could ever get one.

Okay, I get that, and I understand it, but I could not care less. I love my tattoos. They make me who I am, and that's what matters to me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
