High school is a crazy, magical ride. It is the best four years of your life, so I’ll help you get ready for it!
1. Be yourself.
Do not let what anyone else says affect how you live your life. Be your own self because there is no one else like you. You will only be unhappy if you act like someone you’re not.
2. Do not put boys above your girls.
When your best girl friend is crying for hours about family issues, go to her house instead of your boyfriend’s house. Go to all of the girls’ nights, movie outings and shopping trips. Trust me when I tell you, high school is the time to find your bridesmaids, not your husband.
3. Get a job.
You will spend a lot of money in high school. There is always a concert to go to, a new shirt to buy and McDonalds to eat. A job will help you have the most fun you can, and it will also prepare you for the future and help you get into college and get a real world job.
4. Do not stress about test grades.
Getting a C on a test is not the end of the world. I promise, you will move on, and in a few years, you won’t even remember receiving that test score.
5. Get involved.
Join new clubs and leave your comfort zone because it will only help you in the future. You will become more confident in your abilities and will maybe even lead you to take on a leadership role.
6. Eat that cheeseburger.
You are in high school, which means you do not have to watch your weight. Do not diet and do not stress if you aren’t a size zero. It’s important to love your body, regardless of its size.
7. Go on adventures.
Trust me, you can push back doing that history assignment. Go to a park with your friends, go rollerblading, go go-karting, go on any spontaneous adventure you want to go on.
8. Don’t act like you are too cool for your grade school friends.
You will meet new people in high school, but never lose those who you grew up with. Keep your grade school friends because they stuck with you through the bell-bottom and popped collar phase. God bless them.
9. Love your family.
High school is the best and worst four years of your life, so you need your family. You need to lean on them and rely on them for anything and everything. They are the support system that will never leave your side.
10. Grow in your faith.
God is good all the time. When you are feeling alone, you can always pray and turn to God. You can grow in faith through going on spiritual retreats and through building relationships with new people. Being strong in your faith will allow you to be your happiest self.
Good luck in high school! Be open to new opportunities and grab the bull by the horns. You will be surprised with how good your life can be when you experience it to the fullest. Stay true to who you are and enjoy the ride.
