Sometimes life just gives us too much at once and we need to take some time to ourselves and relax. A lot of people don't know what to do to help them relax so they can clear their minds. Here are 10 things that I think will help you to relax.

1. Coloring

To some people, this may seem childish but lately adult coloring books have become a more popular item. Coloring is a good way to help you relax because the only things you have to think about are staying in the lines and what color you're going to use for the next part of the picture.

2. Take a Bath

This one may seem like a cliche but you can never go wrong with a nice hot bath and maybe some candles and music. I like to take my laptop and watch Netflix and have a glass of wine while I'm in the bath. It just gives me time to unwind and not think about all of the things going on for a while.

3. Go for a walk

For some people, this might not be a good option but for most, it will. Get out your earphones and listen to some music while you walk around the neighborhood and enjoy nature. Try thinking about all the wonderful things the world has to offer.

4. Spend some time with a friend

Sometimes you just need another person to talk to, it doesn't necessarily have to be about what is stressing you out, it could be just catching up on each other's lives or just sitting together watching Netflix. Sometimes just the presence of another person is a nice way to relax.

5. Take a nap

Do I really need to explain this one? Taking a nap is a wonderful way to unwind from the day before you jump into the rest of your crazy life.

6. Eat Dark Chocolate

Studies have shown that just about 1.4 oz of dark chocolate can regulate cortisol which is the stress hormone and help balance your metabolism as well.

7. Drink some warm tea

It doesn't even have to be your traditional "English" warm tea it can be some sweet tea that you nuked in the microwave. Really it doesn't have to be tea. You could drink hot cider or hot chocolate honestly a warm drink just makes me feel worlds better when I'm stressed.

8. Cuddles with a furry friend

Even if you don't have pets you probably have a friend that does. Cuddling my puppy always makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. These animals love you unconditionally and their instincts tell them when you need them to help you out.

9. Write

This one may not be for everyone but writing is a really good way to clear your head. Write down what's going on, maybe make a list of everything that's bothering you and think through it.

10. Breathe

This seems too simple right? Take some slow, deep breaths and give yourself some time to adjust. Taking slow deep breaths helps to lower your blood pressure and heart rate making your body relax which in turn helps to relax your mind.

There are many more ways that you can relax, these are just a few that have significantly helped my when I'm tired and stressed from a long day, week, month, or just life in general. I hope some of these ways help you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
