10 Things To Be Thankful For This Thanksgiving

We must give thanks and appreciation for these everyday things.

1. Living in the USA

With this past election, many Americans are outraged by the results. While our president-elect may not have been everyone's first choice, he is what we have and we all just need to deal with. Him being our future Mr. President doesn't change the fact that we all live in the land of the free because of the brave. Be thankful for your country and the freedom you have.

2. Netflix

Honestly, does this even have to be a reminder to be thankful for? If it wasn't for Netflix we wouldn't be able to watch just about any show whenever we want, or pick a random crappy movie to get us through an awkward first hang out session with anyone new. Let's not forget to be thankful for Netflix because if we didn't have it, "Netflix and Chill" wouldn't be a meme.

3. Pizza

The finest of foods definitely needs to be on your list of what you're thankful for. The beauty in the melted cheese and pepperoni is how once ordered, it's only minutes away from being able to be eaten which makes it one of the best foods probably on Earth. If it was acceptable to have pizza as Thanksgiving dinner, I would be the first one to do it.

4. Family

This one's a given. If it weren't for family, you literally would not be here. Family is filled with the people who will always have your back no matter the situation. Also, they're more than likely the people who you'll be spending this holiday with anyways.

5. Dogs

These four-legged creatures are probably one of the best things to roam the Earth ever. Their friendly smiles and cute little faces are bound to make anybody happy whether it's in person or on the internet. Facebook has been my go-to for dog videos since mine are back home with me. If you have a pupper in your house, please make sure to kiss him or her and tell them you're so thankful for their existence.

6. Home-Cooked Meals

One of the worst parts about college is not having home-cooked meals. I swear I feel like I'm constantly eating out or making quick and easy meals. Thanksgiving is going to be so nice with all the turkey, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, and rolls. Home-cooked meals shouldn't have to take so much effort but you can bet I'm thankful when I can get one.

7. Friends

Good friends are so hard to find these days, so if you have the kind of friends I do, be sure to give thanks for them. It's always nice to have those people who are down to get Taco Bell with you at 2AM when your late night cravings just can't be satisfied. And lets not forget to thank the ones who deal with the constant tears of college, aka my roommate.

8. Nutella

I feel like the fad of Nutella has slowly faded as the years have come, but only lately has it been so important in life. I'm pretty sure I put Nutella on everything. So thank you, Ferrero SpA.

9. Smell Good Stuff

That may not be the correct term but I feel like it's the best general term for all the things that bless our noses all year round.

10. G-Eazy

This may be a more personal thing that I'm grateful for this year, but I'm so thankful for his presence on Earth and his music that I couldn't skip him. Not to mention, have you seen him. He's a real 11/10.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
