10 Things That Every Girl Needs To Learn

The world is going to move on whether you hate each other or not.

I have lived in an all girls dorm for the past two years. While I love living with a bunch of women, I also hate it. Wait, strike the word hate, I loathe it. So far, this year has played out just like it did last year. Towards the end of the semester we all begin to drive each other insane. So much that currently we have all taken sides and have began talking down about each other, we all deny it, but I know it's true. Have you ever wondered what happens when your friends turn on each other? While I would love to give you a look into the female brain and show you why we turn on each other as if we were turning a grilled cheese on the griddle, can't do that because I don't know why it happens myself. But what I do know, is that college girl drama is way worse that high school drama. Here's what else I know...

1. We are all the same. There is no reason to think you are better than another. In the end, we all end up either 6 feet under or burned to ashes.

2. If you are told something in confidence by another person, that should stay between you and whoever told you. Everyone doesn't need to know everything or be in another person's business, especially when they don't want them there.

3. A person can date, not date, date and not tell people, whoever they want. Being with another person romantically or sexually is not for other people to decide or to have their nose in.

4. Being petty solves nothing.

5. If you know someone cannot keep their mouth shut, why would you tell them a secret you do not want shared with the world.

6. This is why we cannot close the wage gap. This may be a little dramatic but I definitely see correlation. If we as women cannot even work and coexist with other women, how are we supposed to be trusted with higher quality jobs? I know this doesn't stand for everyone but I think this is a huge problem we need to overcome.

7. We need to accept the fact that we do not actually know everything and that someone else may actually be smarter than the other in a certain field.

8. We are all passionate about something. Why can't we accept and embrace these passions instead of telling each other to shut up all the time.

9. We need to shut up and actually hear what is being said. One person should not be doing all the talking, this is how we learn to hate each other. Every once in awhile I think everyone just needs to shut up and listen to someone else for once. People honestly do not want to hear the same thing over and over again, we do not want to hear about the same person or the same animal every hour. It's nothing personal, things just get old.

10. We need each other if we're going to get through this crazy thing called life. But if you think we're going to be constantly talking about each other and causing fights then maybe we all should go our separate ways.

Truth hurts ladies, but so does losing a friend. This article isn't meant to offend anyone but I'm sure it will. Honestly, if this upsets you or makes you hate me in any way, I'm not sorry. It's time girls get over themselves and learn to not turn their backs on each other when they need it most. Even though we are all friends, we are in fact our own person, some life decisions are not up for group discussion. For all that is right in this world and for the sake of humanity, get over yourselves and let it go. Please.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
