It’s the last semester of your college career. You should be kicking things into high gear and excited to tackle this last step before adulthood. However, this is not the case. Senioritis is no joke. The light at the end of the tunnel is clearly visible, but you can’t find the motivation to get up and get things done.
When this disease of laziness grabs hold of you, and you just can’t find any grind left in you, refer to this list of encouragement.
1. You’ve done this for seven (maybe eight or nine) semesters before. One more should be nothing!
2. If you don’t get off your butt and do some work, you’ll end up having to stay here longer.
3. Think of what your parents would say. You’ll never hear the end of it if you screw up now. Do it to avoid a long lecture.
4. You’ll feel so much better. Procrastinating will only make things worse. You’ll feel stressed as your to-do list grows longer and longer. Get it done, and don’t worry about it later.
5. Stop looking at successful people with envy and start making yourself the successful one! You have what it takes to be amazing, so don’t let laziness get in the way of that.
6. Netflix is not going anywhere. I know you feel that it is necessary to watch every episode of Friends again, but it can wait. Due dates are set in stone. Chandler and Joey will understand.
7. Practice for the real world. In a magical place called Grown-Up Land, there are things called deadlines. The consequences are much worse. You mess up there, you get fired. As they say, “You play how you practice,” so practice being awesome.
8. Back to the parents: They will be much more likely to give you an awesome graduation present or help pay off your loans if you are a good student. Good students do their work, so work hard for the money and don’t complain.
9. That brings me to the issue of money. You are paying for this! If you aren’t paying yourself, somebody is. Don’t waste that investment just getting by.
10. Lastly, it’s not as hard as you think. The end being in sight can be overwhelming. You’re trying to finish school, look for a job, and figure out what you’re supposed to do with your life all in this one semester. Don’t let that get the best of you. Take it one day at at time, and you will reach the finish line before you know it.
