School is out and we all have that moment where we say, "Now what?" Well, after much thinking and brain-storming, I have found the solution to all of your problems. Here are some things you can do when you find yourself a little bored over the summer.
1. Stay in bed until an absurdly late time.
Once I realized there wasn't a good enough reason for me to stop watching Parks and Rec in my room until 12 pm, I started doing that a little too often. Although it does feel kind of liberating to have nowhere to be.
2. Drive around.
This is a fool proof way to kill time. Plus you can jam out to some awesome songs as you drive and explore.
3. Get a job.
Cliché, I know. Getting a job is like one of the most obvious things to do. But it does ensure that you don't stay in the house ALL day.
4. Make spotify playlists.
I like to think of different scenarios and build playlists around them. Road trips, paintball games, workouts: you name it, I have a playlist.
5. Stay up until way later than is healthy.
Conversely to number one, you could be doing whatever you want until three a.m. because there is no school in the morning to stop you. (Whether or not this is actually a good idea is debatable.)
6. Text random people in your phone.
If you're bored, just start some random conversations. You never know what people are doing at the moment.
7. Learn a language.
It's always fun to get updates on your progress and "fluency" from Duolingo.
8. Read all of the books.
Now that we aren't overloaded with reading for school, we can focus on what's really important: our overflowing to-be-read pile.
9. Go buy food.
Or if you were looking for something free, go on an adventure to find free food somewhere.
10. Go somewhere you haven't been before.
It might just be a tourist-y place in your home town. but I'm sure there are places where you live that you haven't explored yet. Go explore them.
Next time you think about being bored this summer, just remember my wise advice and take advantage of having nothing to do.
