10 Things We Wish Were Real from Harry Potter

Wouldn't the muggle world be better with these?

10 Things We Wish Were Real from Harry Potter

For any Harry Potter fan, the wizarding world that Harry and his friends (and enemies) live in is one we all wanted to live in. There are so many different objects and events that are part of that world that we all wish were a part of the muggle world. Sometimes we wish we were in the wizarding world, but us muggles would be content with having these objects in our world.

1. Yule Ball

Proms are one thing, but the Yule Ball is something of its own. There are the dresses and the dress robes, all in celebration of the Triwizard Tournament! Who wouldn't be excited over that?

2. The Mirror of Erised

The mirror that shows all of your desires would solve a lot of problems in the world. Decisions would be made, closure could happen (like it did for Harry), and happiness would be brought to so many people!

3. Time-Turner

We all need a little more in our lives, and I don't know anyone who wouldn't benefit from a time turner. Some would probably use it like Hermione and take more classes, and others would probably just use it to have free time.

4. Flying Cars

The Weasleys sure are lucky to have a flying car. If we brought them to the muggle world, either traffic would be a lot better or there would be traffic jams in the sky. Either or, they're still a really cool idea!

5. Quidditch

All Potterheads at one point in time have tried to play Quidditch. Some just do it for fun and never really get into the sport, others were just competing in the 8th Quidditch World Cup in South Carolina! It is a part of the muggle world, but I think we need the flying brooms and a snitch that isn't a man in a gold morph-suit.

6. Portkeys

Just touching something and it transports you to a different place?! I could really use that right now and instead of being in Milwaukee, I could be in Paris.

7. Invisibility Cloak

What wouldn't muggles do with an invisibility cloak? We could avoid unwanted dinners, sneak on our friends, and win at hide-and-go-seek!

8. Triwizard Tournament

Fighting mermaids, dragons, and other magical beasts would be the coolest competition ever. It would definitely beat out the Olympics in TV ratings, and people would be so excited to cheer on their favorite competitor.

9. Wands/Magic

I guess if muggles had wands and magic, we wouldn't be muggles anymore. But if we did have magic, the world would be a pretty interesting place and I could use the Accio spell to always find my keys!

10. Hogwarts

Who wouldn't want to go this wizarding school? Despite the fact that a few students die or get severely injured each year, it seems like the best school ever! Bye bye math and science, hello Care of Magical Creatures!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
