10 Things To Do On Rainy Days

Since it's been raining these past few days and it's going to be raining for the next week here in Louisiana, I thought it would be most appropriate to gather a list of some of the things I like to do on rainy days. Stormy weather is my second favorite weather because of the wonderful opportunities it brings. Here is a list of what I like to do on rainy days:

1. Binge-watch my favorite show.

I love to get in my bed, grab a snack, and dive into the television screen.

2. Cook a Frito pie (or chili).

Every time it would rain or storm, my mom would cook my sister and I a Frito pie. It became a tradition of ours. The warmness of the dish complements the weather perfectly. Alternative: Order pizza instead of driving to a restaurant on the wet roads. Although, keep the safety of the delivery man in mind, too.

3. Play in the rain.

Call me childish, but I still love to grab my rain boots and rain jacket to go outside and splash in water puddles. I love turning around in circles while the raindrops bounce off of me. It makes me feel carefree and childlike.

4. Sleep the day away.

Sometimes, there's nothing better to do when it's raining other than sleep. I get the best quality of sleep on rainy days. I don't know if it's because of the sound of the rain drops, or because the sun is usually not shinning, but rainy days make me sleepy.

5. Watch "The Notebook" movie.

"The Notebook" is my favorite movie, but I especially like to watch it on rainy days because of the famous raining scene. The scene makes you want to go outside and argue passionately with your boy/girlfriend in the midst of a storm. (If you're not a 'Notebook' kind of person, then just watch your favorite movies with your friends all day.)

6. Bake a new dessert.

My friends and I love to bake new desserts, especially on rainy days--the rain gives us a major sweet tooth. The next time it rains, you should bake apple crescent dumplings and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side--it's to die for!

7. Catch up on homework.

I like to take full advantage of days stuck in the house. One way to do that is to catch up on assignments or start working on assignments ahead of time.

8. Go outside and watch the rain.

Grab a chair, sit it underneath the porch and watch the rain drops fall. You could read a book, write a poem, or anything else your heart desires as you embrace the beauty of rain.

9. Have a night in with your friends.

My friends and I like to play games, eat unhealthy food, watch movies, and share funny stories when it's too wet outside to go out on the weekend. We'd rather be off the slippery roads and enjoy each other's company inside in the comfort of our homes.

10. Color while listening to the rain.

What's that saying? "Don't knock it 'till you try it." Coloring next to a window while listening to the rain fall is so relaxing. It might even put you to sleep.

I hope you all try some of the activities listed above next time it's raining. Comment below and share what you like to do on rainy days.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
