With the recent passing of the first official day of autumn, it is time to start looking forward to the events that come along with this wonderful season.

Fall is full of football, pumpkin spice lattes, cozy sweaters, and Halloween traditions. Here in the South the weather is a mix of warm days and cool nights. It’s still Grove dress weather, but it’s cool enough to wear your new leather jacket to Friday’s concert. It’s the perfect in between.

With Halloween not quite here, and summer still on the mind, it’s difficult to figure out what to do. Here are 10 things to do in Oxford to fill your time:

1. Visit Rowan Oak

Any time of year, but especially fall, it is a beautiful place to take a walk, study, or let your mind wander. It’s a great thinking place. Grab some friends and pack a picnic, take an official tour, or just enjoy the serenity on your own.

2. Attend the farmer’s market

Oxford has two farmer’s markets: Oxford City and Midtown. Both markets are going on this fall. Oxford city markets are Tuesday nights 3-6 p.m. and the Midtown market is held Saturday mornings 7-11 a.m. They’re a great way to buy some fresh produce, local products, and socialize with the locals.

3. Hang out in the Grove

Whether it’s game day or not the Grove is a wonderful place to be in the midst of fall weather. Grab a picnic table or an Eno, or catch a game of Frisbee. It’s a great place to study, chill, or Grove.

4. Try a new café

You can stick with Starbucks and the ever-popular pumpkin spice latte, or you could opt for a possibly even more delicious local take. Most local cafes and lesser-known coffee chains come up with their own fall flavors. Stop by Cups, Bottletree, and High Point to check out their new fall favorites.

5. Go to the Oxford Flea

Check out arts, crafts, vintage, and food vendors from Northern Mississippi. The flea occurs the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot behind HottyToddy.com.

6. Attend a concert

For the small town that it is, Oxford gets its fair share of decent music. Grab a copy of The Local Voice or follow local venues on Twitter or Facebook. There are musical events nearly every night of the week, with more popular concerts on Fridays and Saturdays. Most cost only a couple bucks and are a great way to experience Oxford nightlife.

7. Take a walk

Fall is perfect walking weather. Visit Lamar Park or follow in the steps of Faulkner on the Bailey Woods Trail.

8. Eat outside

As the seasons turn, skip the air conditioning and opt for a meal with fresh air. With more and more restaurants coming to Oxford, there are plenty of new tastes to try and outdoor seating.

9. Shop the square

Get ready for sweater weather by checking out the new fall lines of all your favorite stores on the square.

10. Hit the books

Curl up with a fall latte, a good book, and a cozy sweater. Better yet, do it on the balcony of Square Books. With school in full swing it’s a relaxing way to unwind.

Take advantage of the changing of the season to check out what Oxford has to offer and experience the beauty of fall.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
