Growing up in Rhode Island, the country's smallest state, may seem like a drawback. But, to myself and many other Rhode Islanders, there are so many things that make it unique and special in a way that larger states may not have. Here are 10 things that only Rhode Islander's recognize:
1. Coffee Milk
No, it's not coffee with milk. It’s actually the same thing as chocolate or strawberry syrup! Why does everyone think it’s so weird? It's actually one of the best-tasting drinks around.
2. Potholes
You’re never sure if the person driving in front of you is drunk or just dodging all the potholes in the road, so you just keep your distance anyway
.3. "Regular" Coffee
If you order your coffee made "regular" outside of Rhode Island, prepare for the barista to look at you like you have ten heads.
4. The Big Blue Bug
When you can tell which season it is by the outfits the Big Blue Bug is wearing.
5. No, we're not Long Island.
When people ask if Rhode Island is an actual island or if you're from Long Island, you tend to get frustrated.
6. The Letter R
If you're from Rhode Island, the letter "R" no longer exists in the middle of words. However, not everyone has a bad accent.
7. Mr. Potato Head

In 2000 there were roughly 47 Mr. Potato Heads placed around the state in order to attract tourists. However, now there are only five left in the state. This particular one is outside of Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence.
8. People who are born in the state never seem to leave

9. The New York System Wiener
The resturaunt is not actually in New York but is actually a Rhode Island-based food chain.
10. Not using your "blinkah"
There's nothing like driving on 95 and seeing someone switch lanes without signaling first.
