I've seen other people do a lot of these listicles on their favorite shows, so I figured I'd give it a go based on one of my favorite shows, which is Once Upon A Time. Believe it or not, our favorite shows often teach us important life lessons.

1. Never stay in a toxic relationship

From personal experience, I think this is extremely important. No one should stay in a relationship where their partner physically, emotionally, or mentally abuses them. You deserve so much better than that. Trust me.

2. Women can be heroes too

As our society advances in many aspects, women are too. For example, Mulan here is a secondary female character in Once Upon A Time who doesn't need to depend a man for happiness or strength. Plus, she's a darn good warrior.

3. Love can change some people for the better

Some people struggle to find love for a long time and then one day, they find that special someone who changes them forever. For example, Hook was an evil pirate before he meet Emma and once he met her, he became a better man for her.

4. It's okay not to be okay

No one can be entirely happy all the time. It's okay to have a bad day or be pissed at the world from time to time. Having emotions doesn't make you crazy, it makes you human.

5. Family should always look out for one another

Friends come and go, but family is by your side no matter what. No family is perfect, but what makes a family a good one is when they truly care about your well being and vise versa.

6. There are moments in life that take our breath away

Life may seem bleak after a prolonged series of struggling, but there is usually a rainbow after the most intense storms. Don't lose hope because eventually things will be okay.

7. Appearance shouldn't matter

It's a tale as old as time. The stunning princess falls in love with "The beast". Follow Belle's decision. It doesn't matter how attractive the person you like is. As long being with them makes you happy and feel safe, then that's all that matters.

8. Don't let power get to your head

This is such an important lesson to remember as you graduate high school and move forward in your education and/or job search. For example, the evil queen believes that just because she has a lot of power, she want can do whatever she wants when she wants. WRONG. Her abusing her powers slowly begins to cripple to her, just like it would anyone else.

9. Love at first sight is rare but it can happen

Love at first sight is basically a cliche in my opinion, but in rare cases it does happen for some people. Like Snow White and Prince Charming here, you can randomly come across a person and instantly click with them.

10. Lost family can find each other again

Most family situations differ from one another. In Charming and Emma's case, they are father and daughter that got separated from each other for 28 years. Unlike some, it wasn't by choice. Certain circumstances prevented them from being together for that period of time, but once Emma turned 28, they were reunited once again. Sure reuniting with family after not seeing them for a long time can be awkward at first, but in the end it feels amazing to be whole again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
