Going into high school, people tell you all these things like the Seniors and so scary and make sure you don't try and talk to anyone you don’t know or you’ll get beat up. But high school isn’t as bad as it seems, people are nice and it's some of the best times in your life, so make the most out of it.
1. Upperclassmen aren't as scary as you are told.
They are dreading being back to school as much as you are , so just smile and keep going with your day. They also are there to become mentors and show you the ins and outs of high school. The biggest thing they will do is help you know where they messed up and things they would've done different so you don't make the same mistake.
2. People who you may have been friends with in middle school may part ways.
It's just life you'll be in classes they aren't in and you'll meet new friends. You may not think you’ll be friends with certain people but high school is a time to open up and meet new people.
3. Join a bunch of clubs.
The more clubs you're in the more people you meet. It also looks good on college applications. Joining clubs helps you make friends who have the same interests as you.
4. You don't need to be in AP classes to be considered a smart kid.
Work hard and do your best. While taking higher classes looks good for college, you don’t need to be in an AP class to be considered smart.
5. Pick who you eat lunch with wisely, because you will be with them every other day.
don't sit with people you wouldn't enjoy sitting and talking to for a half hour, make the most of it
6. Don't be afraid to talk to teachers.
Your teacher make the grades so if you have a problem, just ask. Some are lenient some are not, just don’t push it because they will remember that.
7. Go to the football games, it's some of the best times you'll have in high school.
If you like football or not going to the games is a way to show some school spirit. If your school’s football team is either good or bad either way it’s always fun cheering them on.
8. Be nice to the teachers, they'll be people you go to for help.
Make friends with teachers you like, they're always there for advice. Teachers want you to secede in life and the little things and big things that they teach you will help you in a huge way in the long-run.
9. Get to know the school officer.
They're there to lead you in the right direction through high school. Your school officer is there to protect you, but to also help you be a better person and do big things with your life.
10. Kids that are different than you aren't all that different.
Make sure to include them in things because you wouldn't want that to be you. Whether it’s skin color, gender, their intelligence, or if the have a mental or physical disability, everyone needs a friend, don’t look down on people for being different then you are.
