This past week, Montreal voted on and passed a law that will ban all new "pit-bull type dogs" in all 19 of its boroughs, and strict laws will be placed on all existing pits and their owners. The specifics of this law state that any dog that is a "pit-bull" (I'm going to ignore the fact that "pit bull" is not a breed, but a wide range of terrier-like dogs) and has not been adopted yet will be euthanized. On average, over 700 "pit-bull" type breeds come into Montreal animal shelters per year. Also, those who already own a "pit-bull" type breed will have to pay a $150 fine, go through a criminal background check, keep them muzzled and on a short leash in public, and have them vaccinated and sterilized, or their dog will be euthanized. And how will Animal Control know if it is a "pit bull" type dog? Just by looking, apparently. In light of this incredibly stupid law, here is a list of some things more fatal than "pit bulls".

In a study by the CDC, in 2000 "pit bulls" were involved in 8 fatal attacks. Things out-ranking fatalities by pits include:

1. Coconuts

Coconuts cause an average of 150 fatalities each year. BAN COCONUTS!!!!!!!

2. High School and College Football

High school and College football claim an average of 12 lives annually. BAN FOOTBALL!!!!

3. Horses

Horses kill about 120 people each year on average, and that is just in the Unites States. BAN HORSES!!!

4. Tap-Water

In the US, an average of 100 people a year perish due to scalding hot tap water burns. BAN TAP WATER!!!!!!

5. Icicles

An average of 15 people a year die from falling icicles in the United States. BAN ICE!!!!!!

6. Beds

In the United States, an average of 450 people die from falling out of their beds each year. BAN BEDS!!!!

7. Autoerotic Asphyxiation

On average, 600 people die a year from choking themselves to heighten arousal or stimulation. BAN KINKS!!!!!!!

8. Vending Machines

An average of 13 people a year are killed from being crushed by a toppled-over vending machine. BAN SNACKS!!!!!

9. Bathtubs

Over 300 people die a year from drowning in their own bathtubs. BAN BATHING!!!!

10. Television

In 2011, there were 29 reported fatalities caused by falling TV sets. BAN TV!!!!!!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
