As a Mexican American girl I grew up in a home where my mom made sure we were proud and understood our culture, but today I can still remember the things that I found hilarious that she would do, I at first would be confused by the things she would do but eventually concluded that these were things that she not only enjoyed but loved doing.

If you are Mexican read along you might be able to relate.

1. Early Morning Spanish Music That Wakes You Up.

I remember waking up every morning to hear trumpets and guitars and the first thing that would come to my mind was my mom.

2. Making All The Food Extra Spicy

I always say that my mom's favorite thing to do is to make all her food spicy although she denies it and says that I am exaggerating, her food is very delicious.

3. Always Making You Talk On The Phone With Those Relatives You Don't Know.

I remember my mom always calling aunts, uncles, and relatives I have never met in my life then suddenly she calls my name and as I walked up to her she handed me the phone and I was on the phone with someone I did not know.

4. Making You Clean Your Room, Even If It Was Clean.

My mom would always tell me clean my room and I wouldn't understand why she needed me to clean something that was already clean, but either way I always remember hearing "Limpias tu cuarto."

5. Throwing Chanclas At You Every Time You Were Disrespectful

I recall dodging chanclas to save my life, whether it was to get my attention or simply because I answered the wrong way or did something I wasn't supposed to my mom was sure to throw one of these.

6. Always Watching Shows Like Laura Or Mujer Casos De La Vida Real.

My mom loved to watch the Laura show and although it made me laugh to her it was a daily routine that if she didn't do she didn't have a good day. I mean after all who could forget her famous catch phrase " Que pase el desgraciado!"

7. When They Would Tell You Something "Es Cosa Del Diablo" Or " A Thing Of The Devil.

I remember my mom always telling me that things that I enjoyed doing or things that I liked where things of the devil.

8. When Ever You Hurt Yourself Instead Of Comforting You Telling To Try It Again.

I remember if I would ever fall and scrap my knee or hurt myself she would tell me " Hazlo otra vez," " Do it again" no as a challenge but almost as telling me that is what you get for doing something stupid.

9.Putting Vapor Rub On Everything.

My mom's solution to everything was rubbing vapor rub on everything it made sense when it was a cold, but if i burned myself, or i had mosquito bites, or even if my body was sore to her it was always, " Ven deja te ponjo vaporu." or "come here let me put vapor rub on you"

10. Planning Quiceaneras.

In Mexican culture Quinceañeras were a very important stage in a girls life and you can bet that the person behind all the planning was your mom. Whether it was arguing with your Tia Carmen about the center piece or picking the color of your dress she always has a say.

Although many of these things seem a little bit funny and kind of crazy we must all admit that at the end of the day these things are all amazing we love our mothers and their habits are just a huge part of the culture I mean after all we are Mexicans.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
