First there is sour, then there is sweet.

10 Things I Learned Having A Summer Job

As I went through my first summer having a job I realized many things. Having a summer job is great for many reasons, but also can be quite the buzzkill. Depending on what your job is, you may have experienced some of these.

1. "I can't, I have work."

The phrase that many of us have said on the daily. Whether it's a beach trip or just to grab some coffee, we have all had to turn down the offer.

2. Extra hours suck, but extra money does not.

As much as I would rather work four than eight hours, four more hours of money is most definitely worth it. Time is money.

3. Not having to wear a uniform is the best kind of job.

I worked in a hair salon as a receptionist, so my outfits were whatever I wanted them to be. Even though some days I tore apart the room looking for an outfit, I would take that over black slacks and orthopedic work shoes any day.

4. A day off, doesn't always mean "a day off."

The days I didn't have work were spent doing the things I couldn't do the previous day because of work.

5. Lunch breaks are the favorite.

My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

6. Keep your work life and personal life separate.

Home is for home, work is for work. Mixing the two can get a little messy.

7. Being busy keeps you healthy.

Don't try and cram your schedule with too much unneeded activities, but being busy really does make you feel better. I feel like I am being a productive and it's nice to not be on my butt all the time.

8. Money goes FAST.

It's payday, and then it's empty wallet day, that fast.

9. Summer flies by.

I feel like I got home just last week and I am already packing up to leave again.

10. Work friends can be best friends.

Always enjoy the people you work with because they are who you are spending a majority of your time together. Figure out who you connect with most and stick with them! They may be lifelong friends.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
