I knew college would be a big difference from high school, and I might've had too much excitement while packing up my room, but I wouldn't trade anything in the world to go back to waking up at 6 am 5 days a week, dealing with rude teachers, and my obnoxious classmates. Being in college and away from home, to me, is the most exciting and life changing experience you could get.
1. You find out who your real friends from home are.
Not all of your friends from high school will make an effort to see you when you come home for the holidays.
2. Sharing a room blows.
I learned to appreciate my own bedroom and my own space while I visited home.
3. I really am broke.
I'm lucky if I have $20 left for the weekend.
4. You don't have to ask to go to the bathroom during class.
I still ask.
5. Making my own dinner everyday.
I miss my moms cooking.
6. Your clothes will shrink in the dryer.
Farewell my favorite t-shirts, sweatpants, and dresses.
7. I take advantage of free food.
Once I get an email saying there is an event with free food, you know I'm already on my way there.
8. A part of me is missing without my dogs.
Coming home to a quite dorm room without a fluffy companion is brutal.
9. You actually don't have to buy the text books.
I spent almost $1,000 in textbooks and I still haven't opened one.
10. I don't care what people think of me.
Everyone in college is different, you can be whoever you want to be!
I'm happy I learned these things. Going away for college is preparing me for the real world. Its only been 4 month since I packed up and left home, I still have 40 months and 29 days left of college and I am excited to to see where this road will take me.
