We’ve all been there: You have a spare moment between classes and social activities (or not), so you decide to pop open your laptop and catch up with your favorite fictional characters. As fun as Netflix is, you definitely know you could be doing something more productive with your time. Here’s a list of what you can do instead of binge-watching season after season.
1. Exercise
Your body will thank you afterwards and exercise is a great way to burn off the junk food you’ve been eating during your TV marathons.
2. Talk to a friend
Whether through a call, text, or face-to-face conversation, the people in your life will appreciate the effort. Bonus: Real people will respond and listen to your advice, unlike your onscreen buddies.
3. Take a long shower
Showers are relaxing and hygienic, even if they do use a lot of water. Don't be afraid to sing!
4. Organize
Spaces that are clear and inviting cause less stress and make it easier to locate items in your desk, closet, or drawers.
5. Go on a walk.
If the weather’s nice and you don’t want to sweat, your mood can benefit from time outside as well as time to think.
6. Meet with a prof
Too much time watching Netflix will make your grades suffer. Talking about class (or life) improves your grasp on the material and your relationship with your professor.
7. Cook or bake
Making food is a fun activity, which can range from simple to complex. Your friends and your taste buds will thank you.
8. Do chores
Laundry, vacuuming, and cleaning the bathroom are small, necessary activities that contribute to a productive day.
9. Spend time with God
Prayer, reading the Bible and devotionals are all good habits to deepen your spiritual life.
10. Do homework
Admit it, this is what you’ve been avoiding. Go work on the reason you’re at school.
