The 10 Things That Happen When You're Home for Spring Break

There's no place like home.

Now that midterms are over, it’s time to go back home and relax for a week. Here’s what typically happens when a typical college student comes home for spring break.

1. You have access to a fridge full of food.

There’s nothing better than coming home to a full-sized fridge filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese, and other delicious foods that are impossible to keep in a college dorm fridge. You also have full access to a pantry stocked to the high heavens with girl scout cookies. Not to mention, you don’t need any meal swipes either.

2. You appreciate showers so much more.

No more shower shoes! It’s nice to actually be able to take a shower in your own house, not having to worry about the fire alarm going off or not having any hot water.

3. You finally get to catch up with your friends.

You get to see your friends that you haven't seen in forever (really it's only been two months, but who's counting?). Regardless, it's great to tell them about school and catch up on the latest gossip. It's great knowing that these people will always have your backs no matter what and that they still keep in touch even though you barely get to see them. That's true friendship right there.

4. You realize you actually have to drive to see your friends.

It’s not like in college where your best friend is only a walk down the hall. You actually have to drive (GASP!) in order to see them, which is another thing you haven’t done in months if you’re like me and don’t have a car on campus.

5. So. Many. Appointments.

You haven’t been home in months, therefore, you need to get your eyebrows waxed, nails done, hair cut, teeth cleaned, the list goes on and on.

6. Back to work!

Spring break is the perfect time to pick up some extra hours at your seasonal job. It’s always good to come back to school with a nice paycheck. It’s also a good way to make use of your time while everyone else is in school during the day.

7. Shopping spree!

You’re finally home and have all of this free time, not to mention all of the stores are putting out their new spring collection. It’s a must that you go to the mall and buy some new clothes.

8. You miss your best friends like crazy.

It’s not the same without your squad. You miss getting lunch with them every day before class and having late movie nights. You just miss being around them in general.

9. You get to spend quality time with your family.

There's nothing better than getting to see your family for the first time in months. Getting in some family bonding time is essential and is one of the best parts of being home for spring break.

10. You start to actually miss being at school.

As much as you love being home, you start to miss all of the freedom you have at school, being able to see who you want whenever you want. You miss being with your friends all day every day. Sooner or later, you'll be back at school with your best friends again and you'll get to finish off the semester strong.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
