Life has been interesting being the only girl out of 6 boys (including step brothers, of course). I have always wanted a sister, but I think just having brothers is pretty great. They may be annoying at times, but I believe they have benefited my life in many ways.
Here are 10 things that happen when you're the only sister surrounded by brothers:
1. You get tough skin from the constant teasing...
Growing up, I was teased by my older brothers. As a shy child, I used to think they were so mean. Now that I'm older, I notice that they made me tougher, whether that was their intention or not. I still get teased nowadays, but I feel the brotherly love.
2. ...and you get tough skin from constantly being shot with Nerf guns.
Nerf guns are a pretty big deal to my little brother. He has at least 5, and they can be painful. At least Nerf wars are fun!
3. Surprisingly, they give great advice about boys.
Shocking, right? Well, probably not overwhelmingly shocking. Older brothers really care when their sister is upset, especially over a relationship. Their boys, so of course they would give good advice bout them, even though we may not want to listen.
5. And spend great amounts of time with you.
My younger brother can be a tiny bit clingy at times. I assume that's how most children are. It's always good to cherish these moments because they'll grow distant once they get older and develop their own lives. I like the company and conversations, anyways.
6. They tell you cool stories that usually end with crazy life lesson.

7. You have someone to play with when you're bored.
Playing with my little brother is one of my favorite things to do. He has such a nice imagination, and he can sometimes be so sweet enough to share his toys. I don't think I'm too old to quite, yet.
8. Sometime, they even turn into the over protective father...
"Don't go out by yourself," "carry your pepper spray," and "tell them you have crazy brothers" are just some of the few phrase I hear from my older brothers. Sometimes, they can be really overprotective, but that shows how much they care.
9. ...and you turn into the overprotective mother.
There's this unusual paternal sensation that overcomes me when dealing with my younger siblings. It either consist of urges to protect them from this scary world, or it consist of urges to discipline them. Now I'm know how my older brothers feel!
