10 Things I Forget To Tell Myself

10 Things I Forget To Tell Myself
CompFight

I struggle with my own insecurities and daily tasks tend to cause my own stress. I am always forgetting to tell myself these things in the middle of all my panic attacks:

1. You're beautiful.

I spend a lot of time picking at my every flaw, so I forget to remind myself I am beautiful. I sometimes am my own worst enemy and allow myself to think I am less than I really am. There's beauty in the things, I say. There's beauty in the things I think and the way I see the world.

2. "No" is a cool word.

It's okay to say "no." I don't even really have to explain myself after saying no. It's really simple. If I don't want to do something, I do not have to. I cannot spend my life trying to please everyone else and saying yes to things I really don't want to say yes to.

3. It's OK to be comfortable with solitude.

I constantly feel like I live in a generation in love with the idea of being in love. Sometimes I feel left out while all of my friends are on a journey of finding love. I am on a journey for adventures. Adventures fill my soul more than any love has. I've found it's OK to be more interested in experiences than finding a hand to hold. I've come to realize I'd rather be alone than share a bed with someone who doesn't feed my soul.

4. Stop comparing.

You cannot compare yourself to anyone. You're a unique individual who has a lot to offer people. You have qualities that cannot be found in anyone else. Stop destroying yourself trying to be like someone else. It's also OK to not be where someone else is in life. You cannot compare your chapter three to someone else's chapter 20. We all go at different paces in life. You'll get there when you get there and when you do get there it will be the best feeling.

5. Eat the pizza.

Always eat the pizza. Maybe you'll regret eating a whole large pizza while you're stressing over life but chances are it will be worth it. After all, it is pizza.

6. You're worth more.

I am worth more than the 3 a.m. Snap that says "hey ;)." Do not entertain those types of men. You're worth so much more. You're worth some guy asking you what your favorite movie is and why; you're worth more than a woman crush Wednesday post; you're worth more than a night of Netflix and chill. Stop allowing those types of guys in. There's so much more out there than that. Your worth is not measured by someone's inability to love you how you should be. It may take time but you'll find the perfect guy so in the meantime, don't settle.

7. Don't stress the small things.

Why spend time stressing over the things you cannot change? Go out and live life. Life is short so go out and experience it. Make crazy memories, laugh too much, drink wine and live. When I say live, I mean live. One day you'll forget about all the crap but you'll hold on to the memories you create for as long as you live.

8. Let go.

You cannot hold on to things that take away from your happiness. You will only find yourself angry and bitter which are not very good qualities. Let go of people who do not want to stay. People change along with feelings. Not everything is made to last even if we want it to. You have to learn to let things go because in the end it will all make sense one day.

9. It's OK to fail.

It's OK to not be perfect at everything; all that matters is if you keep trying. Sometimes I put entirely way too much pressure on myself. I fear I will fail but it's OK. We learn from our failures. Our failures make us better. Success comes to those who work hard it will all fall into place.

10. Have faith in the Lord.

Sometimes I get wrapped up in my own stuff that I forget who is really in control. My Lord is great and I know he will get me through anything. When I am weak, he will make me strong. Just pray about it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
