Every college student has their share of things they like to do. Whether it's watching episodes of their favorite show or going out to the bars every Thursday. But there's always that one thing that could be sacrificed to help us out in the long run.
Here's a list of things the average college student could eliminate:
1. Going home. Every. Weekend.
Because why did you come to college? Going home is more exciting the more time that passes between the last time you went home.
2. Get off the phone while trying to study.
Even while writing this article, I counted the number of times I got distracted....I lost count after the 10th time.
3. Losing sleep.
Losing sleep is a common theme for students. I can't count how many people complain about not getting enough sleep. Typically students who lose sleep are not the most pleasant people to be around anyway, so do your part and get a good night's sleep so others can all tolerate your presence.
4. Skipping class.
I'll admit that I am not the perfect student and often show up late to class (my apologies to JSB). When showing up late to her class, the whole class goes, "Shaaaaaame." They have given up on shaming me because it hasn't worked! Until recently. Because I know it makes her mad and I know I need Senior Seminar to graduate. Do the math per class and see how much it costs to skip one class. At the University of Dubuque, it averages out to about $300 per class. OUCH. All for a little sleep and saving face because of whatever reason.
5. Bad attitudes!
Don't like being uncomfortable? Too bad! Break out of your shell little turtle! Too tired? I don't want to hear about it because your bad vibes are definitely going to ruin my good vibes. K, thanks, bye.
6. Ignoring the good things you have going.
I say this because the more good things you find, the happier you will be. It doesn't have to be life-altering and earth-shattering awesome. It could be something as small as getting your favorite meal from your favorite restaurant is the kind of thing needed to keep a positive mind.
7. Spending money on fast food
This way you can have money for things needed and not things wanted.
8. Ignoring your friends
Scheduling time with friends is the easiest way to have a stress relief time during your time in college. It will also help develop friendships you will have throughout your entire life. From experience, I still have daily conversations with friends who graduated years ago.
9. Overbooking schedule
Getting too involved is actually a thing and it happens all the time. With so many clubs and activities to commit to, it is easy to be stretched thin with time and resources.
10. Procrastinating.
Notice how I procrastinated listing this one? Yep. Did that on purpose because I felt it is said too often, by professors and friends and family. Everyone knows procrastination is a daily occurrence in life, but even if it's reduced to a small amount of time, then it can keep us from getting ahead in our daily activities.
