10 Things College Kids Think Everyday As Told By The Big Bang Theory

College is the biggest roller coaster life can throw at you. It can be so demanding, yet so rewarding. Sometimes you celebrate and sometimes you break down, but that's okay. College makes you feel so many different things. I can promise you guys two things: 1) you're not crazy and 2) you're not alone.

1. When did I gain 100 pounds?

The freshmen 15 will get you. It's August and you still have that nice beach bod you've worked all summer for. Fast forward to October. You look down and guess what? That unlimited dining hall plan really was worth it. You decide you're going on a healthy kick and make your way to Ramsey and this is what happens.

2. Thank you for lecture #1856627283857.

Just remember, parents are supposed to criticize you. Sometimes you just want a little taste of home. You just got some test scores back, and you maybe failed 1, or 2, or all of them. So, you dial that number you're all too familiar with to get some condolences, but what do you get? A lecture. About what you may ask? HOPE, focus, decision making, etc... basically everything you already and have heard 10 billion times.

3. Be my friend. I promise I'm cool.

You will literally meet or see someone new every day. You're going to be here for 4 years. You might as well try to make some friends. In a sea full of people, surely someone will like me, right?

4. Every cent counts.

We're all broke college kids. Our bank accounts probably range from -$55.87 to $7.35. In college towns, there are deals on every corner. You'll learn how to pay with coins.

5. And here comes another breakdown.

You cry for NO REASON. Maybe it's a girl thing, but once the tears start coming, they don't stop. You'll find yourself crying and the next thing you know you're laughing because you don't even know why you're balling your eyes out.

6. How many episodes have I watched today?

It's 1:30 p.m. and you just finished your long day of classes, so you decide to watch 'one' episode of your favorite Netflix show. Four hours later and you're still laying on the futon right where you sat down after class.

7. Are you kidding me?

I definitely ask myself this question at least three times a day. Whether I did bad on a test I studied ten hours for or dropped my soap in the dirty shower, or I've waited for a washer for three hours and someone takes it before I come back, it's rough.

8. *stares at the board*

Chemistry at UGA... that is all.

9. OMG, I know her from Instagram.

When applications came out last year, everyone followed everyone who was "UGA '20." Now knowing people and seeing who became friends with who, it's funny to see people around campus who you've never talked, but you know everything about them.

10. Is she still alive?

My roommate and I get along, luckily. We both love food, sleep, and Netflix. We have different schedules, but some days we sleep more than others. You know it's been a long day when you come in at 7 p.m. and she's already asleep for the night or you come back from class at 1:30 p.m. and she's yet to wake up.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
