We've all had one. — that summer job that you absolutely detest and can't wait to leave once school starts up again. If you have, you understands all of these things.
1. You learn to appreciate friendly people and customers.
A thousand people could walk in throughout the day, but you remember that one person offering encouragement and a smile.
2. You usually are getting paid way less than you deserve, and from then on, you understand the value of getting paid well for your hard work in the long run.
3. You learn to deal with crazy, annoying and lazy coworkers.
If you can work with them, you could work with just about anyone.
4. You can now stand through just about any event.
If you can feel your feet, you haven’t worked long enough.
5. Your friends have heard you rant about every single thing that has gone wrong.
The cash register being weird, your boss being creepy or even the crazy customer stories you will carry with you for the rest of your life.
6. You’re a pro at a random skill.
You can scoop a perfect ice cream cone, tell you how long that ride will last exactly down to the nanosecond, or balance an ungodly amount of trays on your forearm.
7. You get a discount!
But you almost never use it. Your friends love the perk of you working at the local amusement park, restaurant or movie theater, but once you leave work you never want to go back “for fun.”
8. You constantly remind yourself that you need the money and this will benefit you once you can buy something you’ve been waiting to get.
9. The clock is not your friend.
You just got to your shift, and you already feel like you’ve been there for hours
10. It’s temporary, and you constantly remind yourself of this. You only have to get through a certain amount of shifts before you’re homefree and rolling in the cash!
