Hamilton Broadway

If you're anything like me, you are a huge fan of the hit Broadway musical, "Hamilton". Ever since I heard the opening song when "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda performed it for President Obama in 2009, I've been hooked. In fact, I am listening to the "Hamilton" soundtrack right now! Yes, I am definitely singing along. Over time, I've realized that my obsession has spread into my everyday life and I know it isn't just me! So, I put together a list of 10 things I have noticed I do, all thanks to "Hamilton". If you see yourself in any of these, feel free to share this article and tell your followers something you do that may not be on this list! Okay, Hamilfans/Hamiltrash, let's do it!

1)

When you listen to "Take A Break", you scream "AND PEGGY" after Eliza and Angelica sing their names. Let's be honest, all of us are Peggy in real life.

2)

Thanks to YouTube, we can listen to any "Hamilton" songs whenever we want. Yet, the comment section of each song is absolute gold. I cried laughing when I was listening to "What'd I Miss", because one of the comments was "Jefferson: I can't believe we're free! His slaves: I'm sorry wat". Nothing is better than finding a comment that shows exactly what you think when you listen to a "Hamilton" song.

3)

You go through a whole tissue box when you listen to Act 2, because "One Last Time", Phillip's death, Alexander's death, and "Who Lives,Who Dies,Who Tells Your Story" happens. When I first bought the soundtrack, I just sat on my couch crying, tissue box in hand. IT'S JUST SO EMOTIONAL.

4)

When you listen to "Say No To This", you slam your head against a wall, because Alexander says Maria Reynolds looks helpless and THAT'S ELIZA'S THING COME ON ALEXANDER WHAT ARE YOU DOING DUDE I CAN'T.

5)

You follow every Tumblr/Twitter/Instagram page involved with Hamilton, including each cast members' social media. (If your mornings are gross, follow Lin's twitter @Lin_Manuel. He wishes you a good morning/night every day and it will make you feel special. Satisfaction guaranteed).

6)

You spend hours contemplating your life choices, after you realize that you spent 4 hours on Tumblr looking for Hamilton/Laurens fan-fiction.

7)

When anyone (and I mean anyone) asks you "What time is it", you reply with "SHOWTIME SHOWTIIIIIME" and continue rapping the entire end of "Aaron Burr,Sir".

8)

You took a LOT of time out of your day(s) to learn Lafayette's part of "Guns and Ships" (Bonus: When you finally got through the whole song without messing up, you cried for a few minutes and began writing your Tony Award acceptance speech).

9)

When someone asks you if you speak French, you say yes...even though you only know how to count to nine, thanks to "Take A Break" and "Stay Alive (Reprise)".

10)

You feel like you have a sense of community with your Hamilfan/Hamiltrash family. In all honesty, this is one of the best musicals of all time and it feels great to know that so many people can come together to appreciate this piece of art.

...And that's it! If you have anything to add to the list, please don't hesitate to leave a comment--I would love to read them all! As much as I would love to stay and make this list longer than all of Hamilton's "Federalist Papers" essays (HE WROTE THE OTHER 51), I have to go listen to the soundtrack for the billionth time. I can't wait to see you again. It's only a matter of time.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
