1. My family, obviously.
They have to be the first thing on my list, because it’s true that I miss them like crazy and it bugs me that I have to call them any time I want to have a conversation with my mom, my dad or my brother.
2. My friends.
Almost all of my friends are away at college, but those who aren’t have jobs that keep them busy as heck. Because I can’t just drive over to their house and be all “Hey, I’m bored and you’re home let’s go do something.” Not that I did that anyways, but still. It’s become an inconvenience.
3. My pets.
Anyone who is away at college and has pets back home knows the struggles that come with leaving them behind. Seriously, there are nights that I just want to snuggle up with my cat, only to wake up the next morning with killer allergies or almost slip and die on one of my dog’s drool pools. I miss my babies.
4. My job and all of the cool people at it.
I had only been working at my place for three months before I had to up and leave for college. But, the few friends I managed to make with the managers makes me sad that I had to leave them.
5. The Internet speeds.
My college got rid of free cable to get better WiFi. I literally have to disconnect my internet and then turn it back on again anytime I walk from my apartment to campus. I had to do this anyway before they got rid of free cable.
6. The malls.
My college town has one mall. One. And it has five stores in it that are actually worth shopping at. Anyone who’s from Buffalo knows the luxury of having three malls within driving distance. Four if you don’t live too far from McKinley. And that is where my eyebrow girl is at. And she’s the only one I trust to do my eyebrows. Everyone else has destroyed them (with the exception of two people), and it’s a hassle to have to drive two hours to get my eyebrows done for five minutes.
7. My own bed.
Mostly because I miss my cat being able to sleep next to me, but I also miss having my own room and being able to watch TV until 2 a.m. Can’t do that now without bothering my roommate. Love her, though.
8. The food.
Domino’s Pizza doesn’t even compare to the pizza places we have back home. Neither does Little Caesar’s. Or Tasta Pizza. Or any other pizza place you want to try and tell me is “Soooo good!” No. Just, no.
9. The radio stations.
We have three radio stations that are actually tolerable where I go to college. And one of them is country. I miss my 92.9 Jack FM.
10.The movie theaters.
As nice as it is to get such a great discount on the movies here, the pickings can be a little slim at times. And back in Buffalo, I can take my pick of what kind of theater I want to go to. Shout out to AMC for their automatic chairs that I can stretch out in. You’re the real MVP.
