This is the first Thanksgiving that I will celebrate as a college student. And the past four months that I have spent in college have really made me change my perspective on things. I am now thankful for things that I probably wouldn’t have even thought of this time last year, but man am I thankful for them now.
1. Free things
I am a broke college student, and I can barely afford a pack of ramen from Walmart. So, when students have tables set up with free candy or a cup or even just pencils, you know that I will be there snatching up whatever I can.
2. Breaks
“Breaks like Thanksgiving Break or brakes like on your car, because you should be thankful for both.” -my mom. I was talking about Thanksgiving Break but I guess I am also thankful for the brakes on my car.
3. Socks
My feet and toes are ALWAYS cold. I probably would have died of hypothermia or at least have gotten frostbite it weren’t for socks. I am very thankful to have warm, fuzzy socks to keep me warm on these cold nights.
4. Netflix
You get it.
5. My mom
I would not be where I am today it weren’t for my mom. Living three hours away from her has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. But, when I’m stuck in a pickle, knowing that she is only a phone call away helps a lot.
6. My dad
I could have just said my parents, but I truly believe that they both deserve their own spot. My dad has done so much for me, from fixing my car to believing in me every step of the way. He always has my back and I don’t know what I would do without him.
7. Deadline extensions
I am a die-hard procrastinator, and I am so thankful for extensions this Thanksgiving because without them I probably would have failed out of college. So thank you to my professors who gave me these extensions so that I can be thankful for them.
8. My cat
I love my cat and I am obviously obsessed with her. I miss her so much while I am away at college and if I could with for one thing it would be to bring her back with me. But, since I can’t do that, I will just be overly thankful for her this Thanksgiving.
9. Not being sick, for once this semester
Being a college student, and being around other college students 100 percent of the time, I am constantly sick or have a cough or a stuffed nose. It is absolutely terrible and
10. My college
This is going to be super cheesy, but I love my college and everything about it. I love my dorm, I love the food, I love my sorority and the friends I have made through it, I love my classes and the professors that teach them. I am so thankful for my college and I wouldn’t want to change anything about it.
