College is only four years, and we all wish that it would never end. But it can also be four exhausting years. College can chew you up and spit you back out, both socially and academically. There are a couple of signs that college has absolutely spit you out, but you are just pushing on anyways.
1. When a Friday night out seems like way too much effort.
After a long week of classes, going out sounds so great. But, some weekends your mind is telling you yes but your body is saying no. College definitely got the best of you if you would rather Netflix and chill than get dressed up and drink. Scary. Freshman me would just shake their head.
2. And when you do want to go out, you have no money.
Checking your bank balance makes you want to cry. A $5 cover is now super expensive and going to Chipotle is a true luxury. Well, a luxury that you indulge in multiple times a week.
3. You will do everything in your power to avoid a class before 10:00.
Over the last few semesters of early classes, you learned that an 8 AM is one of the worst things you could experience even though you did it every day in high school. I need to enjoy every last hour of sleep before I have to enter the real world.
4. You struggle to adult on a daily basis.
What do you mean my mom isn't going to make my bed? I have to make my own food? What kind of messed up life is this?
5. Going home is something you really look forward to now.
Earlier in your college career, you loved to stay at school. You were finally on your own, you had no rules, no one was asking you where you were every hour of the day. It was refreshing. But now having to adult on a daily basis (see #4) you are so excited to go home and have your mom do everything for you.
6. Stress has become a regular emotion.
If you ever have a day that isn't stressful in some way or form, you really feel like you have your life together. Then that goes away when you wake up the next morning. The goal when you wake up every morning is to make sure you don't have an emotional breakdown.
7. Alcohol is no longer the question, it is the answer.
Study break? Wine.
Wanna make dinner? Wine.
Wanna watch some Netflix? Wine.
Wanna go to bed? Wine.
8. Procrastination has become second nature.
Social media is the reason why it takes you five hours to write that paper. I have probably creeped you, your grandma, your second cousin twice removed, plus their dog.
9. Living in tiny spaces doesn't really bother you anymore.

After spending so much time in a dorm room, you are so used to having so little space for yourself that when you go home or get a house, you just think "What do I do with all this?? My room is bigger than Harry Potter's closet under the stairs??"
10. Despite it all, you really don't want to leave.
Despite having constant mental breakdowns and the usual struggles that every college student has, you know that you are still technically kind of a kid and the struggles you face within these four years are nothing like the ones you will face when you enter the real world. *shutter*
