Urbanitis is sweeping the nation. The epidemic is quickly spreading into small towns and malls everywhere, ridding already broke college students of their last remaining dollars. With its hipster yet chic allure, Urban Outfitters has something for everybody. It's the, "I paid $70 for this dress, but it's okay because it doesn't look like I'm trying too hard" kind of fashion. It's dangerous. And in order to protect future infections, there are some signs and symptoms the general public should be aware of. Here are 10 common symptoms of Urbanitis:
1. You're already beginning to admit you have a problem.
The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. But, you probably don't want to recover from this, so we'll just move on.
2. You would still rather buy the "BG" or "Truly Madly Deeply" plain white tee over any other plain white tee.
But, the good brands are so soft! You have to buy it.
3. When walking into any Urban Outfitters, you immediately check your checking account balance.
$37.54... That should be enough for some socks and a nail polish!
4. You rationalize your purchases by telling yourself you "need" them.
I don't have a red shirt. Therefore, I need a red shirt. But, this isn't just any red shirt because this one has buttons and a quirky vintage logo.
5. Even though the clearance section still breaks the bank, you consider these clearance purchases responsible. Even if you buy three of the same thing.
If you don't like anything in clearance, you still buy something. It's clearance, after all, and chances are, you'll grow to love it.
6. You want UO cosmetics just because the packaging is cool.
Lotion in a container that looks like a peach?! Yes, please!
7. When your parents ask what you want for holidays and birthdays, there's a one-word answer: "Urban."
Shopping trips and gift cards... does it get any better than that?
8. Sometimes the alarm goes off when you walk in, because your outfit is from Urban.
It's awkward, but hey, at least everyone in the store is aware that you're a loyal customer!
9. You feel bad when people say, "I like it, but it's so expensive," because it reminds you of how broke you are.
People have the perception that you buy Urban Outfitters because you have money. But you know Urban is the reason you're living on 50 cents.
