For all those natural-haired girls, you know what it's like. This is for those who don't.
1. When you run out of conditioner before shampoo
Those dang co-washes, this literally happens every time. If you didn't know, shampoo is overrated. Conditioner is where it's at.
2. Not achieving your desired YouTube look after studying tutorials meticulously
Even if you buy the exact same products and follow all instructions to a tee, you'll always be lacking that "YouTube Natural Hair Guru" magic touch.
3. Going through straight hair withdrawals
Sometimes we miss that manageability, and being able to run our fingers through our hair. But we're not about that heat damage life.
4. Dedicating a whole day just to washing your hair
Pre-poo, detangling, co-wash, normal wash, deep condition, leave-in condition, style and air dry. Make no plans ahead of time, this is an all-day thing.
5. Going broke by spending $$$ on only the most natural and organic products for your hair
6. One word: DETANGLING
Accurate representation of how we feel about it. Definitely the part of wash day we hate. I mean who really wants an involuntary arm workout?
7. Having to explain your nighttime routine to non-natural friends
We are Solange by day, A$AP Rocky by night.
8. Having to explain to your non-natural friends why ANY kind of heat is a NO-NO
Them: "OMG Can I flat iron your hair?"
Me:
No thanks, I'll keep my healthy hair.
9. Dealing with people trying to touch your hair
No, but seriously, my biggest pet peeve. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH my hair without asking. Also, don't get offended if I say no. Respect my space.
10. SHRINKAGE
.
The struggle is REAL. When wearing your hair curly people think you cut your hair but as soon as you flat iron it, it's either not all yours or it grew overnight.
Four hours and a wash-and-go later....
This is how you feel at the end of it all.
