Music has a way of making us feel many different emotions, whether it makes you wanna spin around in the sunshine or lay in your bed and cry, everyone knows their share of songs that makes them feel either way.
Here is 10 songs that hit you in the feels...every time.
1. Remember When- Alan Jackson
If you have never heard this song, it is a must hear. However, grab the tissues. This song brings along on the rollercoaster of life. Young love, marriage, kids, growing old. It is four and a half minutes of straight tears, but somehow because of Alan Jackson's smooth voice and the relaxing guitar strumming in the background, it's hard to to stop listening.
Lyric That'll Get Ya:
Remember when, we said when we turn gray,
When the children, grow up and move away,
We won't be sad, we'll be glad, for all the life we had
2. Arms of the Angel- Sarah McLachlan
Odds are you've never actually listened to this entire song, because the majority of the time it comes on, you switch the channel faster than the speed of light. As you may know, it is the song playing in the background of the emotional ASPCA commercial. The combination of this song and the sad looks on little puppies' faces is enough to get the tears flowing.
Lyric That'll Get Ya:
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
3. You Should Be Here- Cole Swindell
Hold onto your hats, this one will get you. Country fan or not, this one captures the true heartache of losing someone. Each lyric hits home for anyone and is extremely difficult to listen to without getting the chills or tears to your eyes, or in my case tears in a puddle in your lap. If you have recently lost someone, wait a little bit before you listen to this one. Even if it has been a little while, it'll still get you. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Lyric That'll Get Ya:
This is one of those moments that's got your name written all over it
And you know that if I had just one wish
It'd be that you didn't have to miss this
You should be here
4. Home- Michael Bublé
Luckily, this one doesn't often bring actual tears. However, it still has a way to get you feeling nostalgic. You hear of the struggles of being away from someone you love, and whether you have experienced something like that or not, listen to this and you will definitely feel it. It is hard to resist Michael Bublé's smooth, melodic voice. Not to mention, it seems as if he is referring to a person as home, and that in itself is enough to pull at the heartstrings.
Lyric That'll Get Ya:
Let me come home
I'm just too far from where you are
I wanna come home
5. Whiskey Lullaby -Brad Paisley feat. Allison Krauss
Boy, this one is hard to listen to. This song tells the story of a soldier coming home from war to discover his wife in the midst of having an affair. You hear the mutual struggles of both of them and their unending love for one another, but their inability to be with each other and the guilt that dawns on them. If you listen well enough, the tears will be there. Grab tissues.
Lyrics That'll Get Ya:
They found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her 'till I die
....
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for delight
6. Forever and Always -Parachute
This one may not be as well known, but that doesn't mean one listen to it won't make you wanna curl up and bawl. Starts off with a girl wondering where her fiancé is, because he hadn't showed up. You eventually learn that he got in a freak accident and is on his death bed. You are brought through the wonderful events of their relationship. In the end, they bring in a chaplain to marry them before he passes away. If that isn't enough to get you, I don't know what is.
Lyric That'll Get Ya:
She finishes the vows but the beeps are getting too slow
His voice is almost too low
As he says I love you forever, forever and always
Please just remember, even if I'm not there
I'll always love you, forever and always
7. Say Something- A Great Big World feat. Christina Aguilera
If you have never belted this in your room, your car, or anywhere, you're singing it wrong. There is an immense amount of emotion in this song and never fails to give you the goosebumps. In conclusion, this may not bring the tears, but it'll sock you right in the feels. Not to mention, Christina Aguilera rocks.
Lyric That'll Get Ya:
And I will swallow my pride
You're the one that I love
And I'm saying goodbye
8. Travelin' Soldier- The Dixie Chicks
This one is a rough one for me personally. It tells the story of a young girl meeting and falling in love with a soldier. It seems as though everyone has heard this song at least once. By the end, don't be surprised if you're crying like a baby, because it is truly an honest and emotional story. You can guess how it ends, but for anyone with a family member, close friend, or anyone fighting in our armed forces, it may be a little difficult to get through, making it one of the most brilliant songs of all time.
Lyric That'll Get Ya:
One Friday night at a football game,
The Lord's Prayer said and the Anthem sang,
A man said folks, would you bow your heads
For the list of local Vietnam dead
9. Fix You- Coldplay
Fix You is the ultimate song to listen to when you aren't feeling the best about yourself. Not only do you get to soak in Chris Martin's soothing voice, but the combination of the music and lyrics is enough turn any bad day into a good one by plucking at your emotions. To make it even better, Chris Martin wrote this song for his wife at the time, Gwyneth Paltrow when her fathered died. He explains that through her pain and sorrow, he will try to fix her. That in itself makes the song hit you even harder.
Lyric That'll Hit Ya:
Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
10. If You're Reading This- Tim McGraw
Of course, I have to finish the list off with a tear jerker. Again with the story of a soldier off to war, but this time from the soldier's prospective. This makes the song taken to a whole new level of emotions. You eventually realize that the soldier is explaining how he won't be returning home, but to make it even harder on the heart, the soldier explains that although they won't see him, he is already home. In all honesty, I'm tearing up just typing this.
Lyric That'll Get Ya:
If you're reading this, there is going to come a day
You move on and find someone else and that's okay
Just remember this
I'm in a better place
Soldiers live in peace and angels sing amazing grace
That's all for now, I'm sorry in advance for the tears. If you're brave enough to give them all a listen, grab tissues and don't say I didn't warn you.
