We all have the jokes about what doctors shouldn't say, but how about what they shouldn't sing? The songs may sound innocent, but just imagine lying on the operating table, or sitting in the clinic, and the doctor starts whistling a tune. I've had numerous meetings with surgeons and undergone several surgeries to be an expert on how sensitive you become to everything your doctor does. Doctors and nurses are smart, and they usually mean well, but sometimes the things they say- or rather sing- can make a patient want to run in terror. And believe me...it happens.
1."Oops, I did it again..."
-Brittney Spears Oops!...I Did it Again
I'm not sure what would scare me more. The "oops" part or the "I did it again."
2."Shot in the heart, and you're to blame!"
-Bon Jovi "You Give Love a Bad Name"
Believe it or not, there is a story of a doctor who sang this particular song the whole way to the hospital while taking care of a man who was *literally* shot in the heart.
3."You got me doing things I've never done before"
Let's be honest. You want the doctor to have done the procedure a million times before they get to you. There's nothing worse than when a doctor becomes visibly excited because they get to try something new.
4. "So I'm gonna love you like I'm gonna lose you,
And I'm gonna hold you like I'm saying goodbye..."
-Meghan Trainor - Like I'm Gonna Lose You Lyrics | MetroLyrics
No patient wants to hear their doctor- or anyone- say "goodbye" unless they're leaving the building- NOT going in for surgery.
5. "Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake.
I shake it off, I shake it off"
I don't care what the cure is. It should never have the word "shake" in it.6. "Say live and let die..."
Live and Let Die by Paul McCartney
Do I really need to say more?7. "Oh, my Lord, I have never seen this before."
This gets more and more terrifying the older the doctor is and the longer he or she has been in the profession. Heck, it's scary no matter who says it.8. "So light 'em up, up, up.Light 'em up, up, up."
- My Song Knows What You've Done in the Dark-Fall Out Boy
According to "House," this is a real possibility.9. "And you haven't got a clue.Somehow I'll make a man out of you."
I'll Make a Man Out of You by Danny Osmond (from Disney's Mulan)
Just no. NO.
