We're finally almost there. Summer is just around the corner, and I don't know about you, but I am beyond ready to relax, enjoy myself, and probably throw a little bit of adventure into the next few months. Not only is this prime time to go out and explore and enjoy the incredible experiences that the world has to offer, but it's crucial that we document the memories we make in the best way possible. What better way to solidify these adventures in our minds and hearts forever than to get a tattoo? Here's a list of some small, yet meaningful tattoo ideas for you to get in honor of your upcoming summer escapades.

1. Capturing the big picture in one word

Perfect for any good adventurer, this simple one-word tattoo accurately exemplifies exactly what a lot of us want our summers to be comprised of.

2. Showcasing our number one emotion during this season

Running right along with the small, one-word adventure theme, this tattoo is a great way to express that feeling that many of us have: the desire to explore, discover, and traverse the diverse world we live in.

3. Flying away

This one's perfect for the world traveler who doesn't let long distances adhere their efforts in seeing all the sights. Check this tattoo out if you're a fan of flying.

4. Let me show you the world

Take pride in the planet that you come from with this tattoo. There's no better reminder of what's out there than this, am I right?

5. Pointing you in the right direction

With this compass tattoo, you'll never get lost. It's a perfect representation of the fact that no matter what route you take, adventure will always await you.

(Also, I have basically the same tattoo, so that should add some bonus points to this one, too.)

6. Which do you prefer?

These cute little images are perfect for documenting your summer adventures because of their versatility. No matter what your preference is when it comes to exploring, you can easily translate that to a small memory. Whether you enjoy hiking vast forests, swimming in the waves of the ocean, or climbing tall mountains, you're covered.

7. Wanna get matching tats?

Grab your best friend and get inked together! These sun and moon tattoos are just one example of countless small matching pairs that could be the solidification of your friendship and the memories you'll make this summer.

8. Spread your wings and fly

These beautiful tattoos could mean a ton of different things to different individuals. Maybe you're finally leaving your small hometown to venture throughout the massive world that's out there; these birds are leaving their nest, just like you.

9. Keep moving forward

The semicolon tattoo has gained quite a bit of popularity recently. Like when it is used in a sentence, the tattoo signifies that one's story is not over yet. This has been an incredibly inspirational and encouraging statement for those who may be struggling with mental illness.

10. Remember this moment

If you want to document a specific moment/date/era in time, roman numeral tattoos are the way to go. Not only do they look great, but they are also a perfect way to memorialize something incredible that happened. Vacation idea, maybe?

Of course, the possibilities for tattoo ideas are endless. Hopefully this list gave you some inspiration for ink you may want in the future, or maybe even this summer. Always remember, adventure is out there, but it can also exist within (and on) us as well.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
