With the abundance of snow, we received this past weekend, many college students are looking for ways to have fun in the snow. Because funds can be tight and a sled may not be in the budget, here are 10 items you can find around your dorm or apartment to use to engage in some sledding activities!

Baking Sheets

The duck seems awfully jealous of this sled option!

Chaela Minor

Even better - spray the bottom of the sheet with PAM cooking spray for a quick, slippery ride down the slopes!

A Laundry Basket

Go ahead and dump your dirty clothes out on the floor and head for the hills....you can always clean later!

A Scholarship Check

Chaela Minor

Thank you so much for your generous support, donor! Your monetary donation will definitely allow for an adventurous ride down Slater!

A Lunch Tray

Surely they won't miss one from the dining courts anyway, right?....

An Air Mattress

Ross Pearson

This group took "lay back and relax" to a whole new level...

A Dry Erase Calendar

That calendar you use in your apartment to keep track of your roommates' schedules? While it works well to keep tabs on everyone, it makes an even better sled. Luckily, you can still use your phone to keep track of your schedule.

A Bird?

Chaela Minor

Birds have recently taken over many college campuses. They offer a quick, easy way to get to class...but an even more joyous ride down a steep, snowy hill.

Garbage Can Lid

But, don't forget to take out the trash first.

Couch Cushions

That furnished apartment you're living in? Who knew it also offered up great resources for some fun in the snow.

A Tote Lid

Chaela Minor

No better way to utilize those empty totes than as a sled, anyway!

Comment below some other fun, household items you've used as sleds to share the wealth of ideas!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
