It's easy to "go through the motions" in school. Do these simple tasks throughout the day to help better your mood and ultimately put you on the path to a healthier lifestyle.
1. Listen to music between classes
If you have classes back-to-bad, consider listening to a song or two on Spotify during your passing period. Even if you are done for the day, listen to a song or two on your way back to your dorm.
2. Make an effort to smile
Studies show that even a fake or forced smile reduces stress and brightens your mood. Plus, it will make you more approachable.
3. Consider meditation
It sounds weird. It's not. Meditation doesn't need to be what you expect, a bunch of hippies humming to themselves on the ground. Meditation can be your way of reflecting on your day and being present in the moment. It certainly puts you in a good mood before you go to be.
4. Keep your family updated on your day
Make sure to keep in touch with your family. These are the people who love you the most and want you to succeed. Sometimes it's nice to get encouragement and advice from your parents, even though other times it can be quite annoying.
5. Join an intramural sport
It's less involved than going to the gym, but you still get the endorphins. What better way to brighten your mood than a quick game of basketball with your friends?
6. Watch Netflix while walking on the treadmill
Instead of locking yourself in your room to binge your favorite show, watch it while burning a few calories.
7. Tea over Coffee
Tea is known to boosts health and provides rich antioxidants. Coffee leaves you jittery and nervous, which might not be so helpful if you need to finish a midterm essay.
8. Dress to Impress
It just makes you feel better. Take twenty extra minutes in the morning to put a little more time in your appearance. Present yourself in a way that makes you feel confident.
9. Drink Water
Keep a water bottle close to you throughout the day to help you stay hydrated. Without water, you feel more tired and get more headaches. It's just too easy to avoid this.
10. Do homework in a public spot
Instead of finding a spot in the library or studying in your room, occasionally do work in the cafeteria or on the lawn. In this way, you can get some work down and say hi to people in passing.
