Home can be many places for us students of Virginia Tech. It can be right around the corner from Tech, or completely across the world. But we all have one thing in common: Virginia Tech is our second home. Coming in as a freshman, I wasn't sure how I would fit in with such a variety of students. But as my time here in my first year is more than half way over, I wouldn't change Tech for the world.

1. What is a NOVA?

Northern Virginia? But where does Northern Virginia end and Southern Virginia begin?

2. Wha is the 757?

Again, I had to look it up. The 757 = VA Beach. Thanks Google, without you I wouldn’t know any of this.

3. Does Virginia even have a state flag?

I just looked it up, and it's someone standing over another man's body, and I’m guessing he’s dead. That’s cool, just casually teaching the children of Virginia about murder.

4. Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion are the only attractions you know about.

Anyone remember the big bad wolf?

5. You only drive down I-81 if you have to.

No matter how hard we try, we always make awkward eye contact with truckers.

6. Is Virginia considered a part of the North or South?

Like southern Virginia acts as if it is somewhere in the boondocks, but northern Virginia is full of mansions and shopping malls. I’m confused.

7. Virginia is for Lovers?

Lovers of Chick-Fil-A? 'Cause if so, I’m moving to Virginia.

8. It seems like a good 99.9 percent of the students at Tech are either from NOVA or the 757.

And you’re that 0.1 percent.

9. Now that you’ve experienced what Tech has to offer, you notice that there are infinitely more people that have gone to Tech who also live in your state.

My neighbor went to Tech, and I didn’t know that until last week LOL.

10. Though you may not be in your home state, you still consider Virginia your second home.

I want to thank all of the Blacksburg/Tech community for being my second home and taking me under their wing. I can't wait until it's warm again to see everyone out on the Drillfield being typical Hokies.
