10 Signs You Went To Texas A&M's Fish Camp

At Texas A&M, we're all about tradition. And what's an Aggie's first tradition? Fish Camp! Whether you were Blue, Green, Purple, Lime or whatever other color, chances are you had an awesome couple of days at the all-famous Lakeview.

1. You went to camp with high school friends and you all got put in different colors

Lol. This is just one of those fun ways Texas A&M shows you how much everyone at this school absolutely rocks. You don't need your high school best friends to have a great time because you made tons of new friends and had the best/ most funny counselors who always wanted to talk to you.

2. You didn't understand your camp chant, but you lost your voice from screaming it so loud

You yelled random words, animals, and hit lines from YouTube videos. It probably had a terrible tune and an awkward stomp in the middle. You thought it was awesome. You screamed it so loud that you had to drink packets of honey along with the counselors to get your voice back.

3. You could be as weird as you wanted at camp because no matter what, the counselors were always weirder

They had no shame during skits, dance parties, or really ever. They got you to scream odd things and make friends you never imagined having. They were always up for an impromptu dance party that accompanied hit moves they really hadn't perfected. Your parents are still unsure why they left you with them...

4. You have a new appreciation for colored hair and facial piercings

Because nothing says "Welcome to Texas A&M," better than a new nose ring and corn rows. You are unsure if this is the official style of the university, but you don't care because it looks awesome, and you want to be apart of it.

5. Iceberry Blue is now your favorite drink

You don't know the amount of sugar put into the blue liquid Heaven served in the Lakeview Cafeteria, but you do know that it's a life changer. Although, you still wonder why your counselors filled four empty Cheeto bins with the drink to take back to school.

6. You call two upperclassmen that you met three days ago "Mom" and "Dad"

Although you only met these two individuals hours ago, they have quickly become an integral part of your Texas A&M experience. Your Discussion Group Parents will now and forever be referred to as "Mom" and "Dad."

7. You thought all of your counselors were dating

Your DG Mom and Dad have unremarkable chemistry. Maybe it was from spending the whole second semester and summer together, but maybe (just maybe) it's because they're dating. Also they would make such a cute couple.

8. The friends you made at fish camp are still your friends at school

Fish Camp doesn't end when you leave Lakeview, and it definitely doesn't end after the first week of school. The friends you make at Fish Camp become future best friends, roommates, and study buddies. Y'all will always share the love for Fish Camp and your color (which is STILL better than everyone else's).

9. You love Texas A&M a lot more than you already did (even if it was a lot, a lot)

Fish Camp showed you Texas A&M traditions in the form of funny skits, interactive lessons and memorable presentations. You experienced a Yell Practice in the pool, and sang Hullabaloo with 800 of your closest friends. You officially feel apart of the Aggie family and know that A&M was the best decision you ever made.

10. You want to go back and be a counselor

You had a great time at Fish Camp, but you know who also had a great time? The counselors! Because you can't be a freshman again, you totally want to apply to be Fish Camp counselor. These students were funny, welcoming and made your experience at Fish Camp one to remember, and you wan't to be apart of that for all future Aggies!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
