1. At some point in your life, you were a huge tattletale.
"Teacher, Joey's chewing gum!"
2. But once you got tattled on by someone else, you were like...
And then you swore to never tell on anyone again... which, unfortunately, may or may not have made you inclined to not tell on someone when it would have been beneficial for you to do so.
3. You would sometimes swear under your breath or in secret and then die laughing.
4. When it was one of those rare days on which your parents actually let you eat junk food...
...you ate all the junk food in sight.
5. You tried to call adults out when they swore but, to your disappointment, got shut down every time.
"I'm an adult. I can say those words if I want to." -every adult who preached about the Dangers of Swearing™ until they were blue in the face only to drop an F bomb five seconds later.
6. This is how all your friends saw you.
Even though you weren't actually that angelic, like, at all.
7. Before you went to a friend's house, your parents asked a million (really weird and unexpected) questions about not only your friend but their parents.
"Uhhh, no, I don't know what Abby's GPA is, what her parents do, or what their annual income is. Why?"
8. When you couldn't go to a thing your friends invited you to, they suggested you sneak out and you made this face.
"You see, some things are more important than going to this one party, and not getting killed is all of them."
9. You became an expert at being sneaky, and by the time you were in high school your whole life was like a spy movie.
10. The second you got to college, you did everything they never let you do.
Special thanks to the people in the #GrowingUpWithStrictParents hashtag on Twitter for giving me ideas for this article.
