Oh, the glory days of elementary school. We all enjoyed it – enjoyed all the arts and crafts and all the simple learning with numbers and letters. But only the best go back to elementary school after they graduate. We all have a love for children and a love for making the first significant impact of learning in their lives. For some, they knew what they wanted to do, but for others, this was a backup plan. Well isn't it the best backup plan ever!? Teachers have a special bond with their students that will last a lifetime. I still go back and see my teachers from elementary school and they are the reason I am where I am today. The impact they made in my life made me want to do what they do. It may not be a job with rainbows and butterflies all the time, but the good for sure makes up for the bad. This is not just a major, this is a way of life. Teachers love children that much that they take them in even if they are not their own and most times on top of being a parent on their own. To all my fellow elementary education majors, we all made the smartest choice by taking this wonderful opportunity on.
1. You most likely had a job with children before.
It was probably at a camp or a babysitting job, and this is where you learned that children were funny and you could make a career out of this.
2. You get overly upset when you hear of a child having a rough life.
You almost just want to adopt them and take them in yourself, but you can't because you're a college student.
3. You want to have a family of your own one day, so you like the idea of having all the holidays and summers off to eventually take care of your own children.
4. Your Pinterest board is covered with ideas for bulletin boards and lessons you can use in your internship and in your own future classroom.
5. You love having cool final exams.
You prefer to make cool teaching lessons, instead of sitting there and having boring written finals.
