10 Signs You Are Close With Your Family

Ten signs you are from a close family:

1. You are excited to go to family parties. You will cancel plans with your friends or say you can’t go out with them just because you have a family party to go to. Your friends always make fun of you because who can possibly be so excited to see their family.

2. All you do is make fun of each other. Everyone in the family has one thing about them that everyone makes fun of. No one gets upset, no one gets insecure because it's all to make each other laugh. In fact, the person who is the butt of the joke tends to be the one laughing the hardest.

3. Everyone knows everyone's business. While everyone is out and about doing their own things, whether away at school, living away from home, or on a trip, we still know all the major events going on in each others lives.

4. You support one another endlessly. You go to each others games and concerts no matter how much of an inconvenience it may be.

5. You have inside jokes that only the family laughs at. If any friend came to a party they definitely would have no clue what you and your family are talking/laughing about. And quite frankly by the time they leave, they just think you and your family are just plain weird.

6. There is never a moment of silence in your house because it is constantly being filled with laughter and activity. You all crowd around the adult table and listen to all the gossip, where jokes come from left and right. Someone always has something to say, even if it’s grandma and grandpa cracking a joke in the corner.

7. You have your annual football and baseball games between the kids where everything gets so competitive to the point there are always fights. All the adults are just watching with some kind of drink in their hand laughing, shouting and cheering us on.

8. At every family gathering a new family joke is created that will now be said at every following party.

9. You randomly pop up at your cousin's house just to say hi or hangout and vise versa. There is never need for a formal invite, it would be wrong.

10. Lastly, and certainly the most important sign you are close with your family is that you love each other endlessly. Amidst all the jokes and embarrassing moments that your family will never let go, you appreciate every second of it. You wouldn’t trade the moments and the memories you have made with your family for anything else in the world. As annoying as it is that our moms, aunts and grandmothers constantly want us to get together and take a picture, we will look back on those pictures years after and smile.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
