10 Signs That Your Mom Is Your Best Friend

Moms. All of us know that we (literally) wouldn't be here without them. We owe so much to them that just having one Mother's Day a year doesn't feel like enough. They are our superheroes as kids, our worst enemies as tweens/young teens, and, hopefully, our best friends for life!

1. Spending time together is fun

If your mom is also your best friend, you never feel like you *have to* spend time with her. You enjoy it and probably look forward to doing it.

2. You call her a lot

It's at least twice a day, if not more. And don't forget about all of the text messages that are in between that!

3. You can dress each other

Remember when your mom still forced you to wear what she picked out and you hated it? If she's your best friend now, odds are you beg her to help you decide what to wear and generally love everything she suggests. You probably even wear the same stuff half of the time.

4. You're into the same things

You probably like the same books, movies, and TV shows. Your ideas of a fun day are probably pretty similar. Overall, you probably inherited her taste rather than your dad's.

5. People who don't like their moms confuse you

You know better than anyone that you wouldn't make it half an hour in this big crazy world without your mom's love and support, so people who say that they don't like their mom, that they fight with her a lot, or that they hardly ever call home are just really, really confusing for you.

6. You fight occasionally, but make up quickly

Any good friendship has its ups and downs; that includes the one you have with your mom. The upside is that you probably make up really quickly after fights because you both hate being mad at each other. Either of you would rather fight someone for the other one than fight with each other.

7. You're really close to your grandmother (probably)

If your mom and her mom are also best buds, then you're probably really close to your grandmother as well. Its a double win for you!

8. You relate to Rory and Lorelai Gilmore on a spiritual level

These two are basically a lovable (if somewhat over the top) TV version of you and your mom in real life.

9. You know lots of "old" music

Remember how we said that you had your mom's taste? She has probably introduced you to most of your favorite songs that lots of your friends consider to be "old" (love you forever, John, Paul, George, and Ringo!), but you don't mind because its still really good stuff.

10. You couldn't imagine living without her

Basically, you'd be dead without your mom. You need her more than you might want to admit at times. She's your solid rock and your warm hugs and you couldn't imagine doing this crazy life thing without her. One day, you hope to grow up (if you actually grow up) and be just like her!

Long story short, having your mom as one of your best friends is pretty great. Sure, you might sound weird to your peers some of the time, but that's just because they don't know what they're missing. So, now that you've read this, go call her and tell her you love her (because you do)!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
