10 Signs It Is The End Of The Semester

With Thanksgiving break over now, we have about 2 weeks left until finals week. This is the time where many college students including myself, realize that there is only two weeks to get grades up, get all of the work done that we have been putting off, and most importantly, only two weeks left for us to get our life together. It is very obvious when college students are towards the end of the semester, and here are 10 signs that show that:

1. Your motivation is gone. At this point in the semester, there is no motivation left at all, and you find it harder than ever to FORCE yourself to do the work that needs done.

2. You are basically out of dining dollars and meal swipes. Now is the time when you realize that you cannot go out to eat with friends on campus because you are out of dining dollars. Microwaveable foods become our best friend!

3. Realizing that in just a few short weeks you will have to leave your friends for a couple of weeks. Many of your new friends that you met in college probably live a distance from you, making it harder to hangout everyday while on break.

4. Finals. Finals are about 3 weeks away and you are not prepared at all. You still are lost on the material learned from week one, let alone trying to understand what you just learned in the last class sitting!

5. Your GPA will either sink or swim. At this point, you know that either your GPA will be great, or that your GPA is going to be horrible. You do not have enough time to try and bring it up that much, you just accept it as it is.

6. You are over dining hall food. With only two weeks left, you are beyond burned out on dining hall food. It literally is the same thing every other day. Home cooked meals are so much better!

7. You give up on caring what you look like. At this point, you probably do not care if you show up to class in your pajamas or wear the same outfit every other day. You have better things to do than to care how nice you look.

8. You start packing to go home. Even though you have like two weeks left, you start packing now because going home is the only thing on your mind!

9. The snack stash is gone. All of those light night craving took a toll on you and now you are just about out of snacks. Now is when you start wondering if you can survive off water for the remaining weeks in the semester.

10. You would give anything for the semester to just be over already. Honestly, giving up something is better than crying everyday for the last two to three weeks!

There is so much more to the list, but here are just 10 signs that you know it is the end of the semester.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
