10 Shawn Mendes Lyrics You Didn’t Know You Needed Until Now
Sara Fikse

Recently, I was lucky enough to see Shawn Mendes in concert. He was nothing short of magnificent. I seriously didn’t think I could love him anymore than I already did; but I’m very glad he proved me wrong. Shawn (And yes, I’m using his first name because after he waved to me -- okay more like my section, but still -- we’re basically besties.) is a pop rock singer/songwriter and his lyrics are genius. Thus, here are 10 Shawn Mendes lyrics that you just really, really need in your life.

1. For when you're stressed and losing hope.

“But you gotta realize that soon the fog will clear up / And you don’t have to be afraid because we’re all the same / And we know that sometimes it all gets a little too much.” - A Little Too Much

2. For when you accidentally brush hands with a cute guy in class and convince yourself that he could be your soul mate.

“I know that we just met and maybe this is dumb / But it feels like there was something from the moment that we touched.” - Kid in Love

3. For when you’re homesick and feeling alone.

“You’ll never be alone / When you miss me, close your eyes / I may be far, but never gone / When you fall asleep tonight / Just remember that we lay under the same stars.” - Never Be Alone

4. For when you just need to let loose with your besties.

“Oh, I’ve been shakin’ / I love it when you go crazy / You take all my inhibitions / Baby, there’s nothing holdin’ me back.” - There's Nothing Holding Me Back

5. For when you’re confused by his perplexing signals.

“First you say you love me then you say you don’t / I wake up in the morning and I’m all alone / Tell me that you with it then you say you won’t / Can you make up your mind? / Oh please, I’m losing my patience.” - Patience

6. For when you’re ready for a relationship but he’s not.

“I’m not tryna start a fire with this flame / But I’m worried that your heart might feel the same / And I have to be honest with you, baby / Tell me if I’m wrong and this is crazy / But I got you this rose / And I need to know / Will you let it die or let it grow?” - Roses

7. For when you’re feeling nostalgic.

“These days are flying by / Weeks feel like minutes / I can’t remember being small / I try to figure it out / I can’t seem to find out how / I guess I don’t know much at all.” - Hold On

8. For when you’re feeling overwhelmed because life moves so fast.

“I don’t know what you’re going through / But there’s so much life ahead of you / And it won’t slow down / No matter what you do / So, you gotta hold on / All we can do is hold on, yeah.”

- Hold On

9. For when you’re feeling victorious because you just accomplished something that could help change the world… even if it was small.

“When they hear you and you thought they wouldn’t listen / It’s like an anthem that the whole world’s singin’ / Hands are in the air / Something big I feel it happening.” - Something Big

10. For when you need remember who you are.

“‘Cause we all get lost sometimes, yeah / We all get lost sometimes / Don’t leave your heart behind / ‘Cause we all get lost sometimes / I really wanna understand / I just gotta understand, yeah / Now I just need to, I need to understand / I really wanna understand who I am.” - Understand

Shawn was spellbinding live folks. If you give these songs a listen and like what you hear, you should definitely check out his world tour! Also, if you get tickets and need someone to come with you, well, I suppose I could (absolutely, undoubtedly) pencil you (and Shawn) into my schedule (again).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
