Every so often when life gets hectic and my schedule is overwhelmingly occupied with school, work, and unexpected annoyances, I find myself in a less than optimistic state. The stress, worries, and frustrations of life put a damper on my mood, and I start to slide down a slope that leads me to foster feelings of discouragement and self-pity in my heart. God understands our troubles, and wants us to understand that He is with us through it all! These verses are a great reminder of God's faithfulness and love that I am able to cling to while dealing with the trials in life that trick me into a bitter mood.
10. I am protected:
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1
9. I am able:
"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13
8. I am waiting on the Lord, knowing my circumstances are in His hands and He will give me the strength to continue no matter what difficult scenario I am faced with:
"But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not grow faint." Isaiah 40:31
7. I am looking forward to the bright future:
"I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." 1 Thessalonians 3:16
6. I am not alone:
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
5. Because of my Savior, I am able to lay my burdens down and live in peace:
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:38
4. I have someone to lean on when life weighs me down:
"Fear not, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
3. I know that no matter how busy, how stagnant, or how confusing my life becomes, God will lead me in the right direction:
"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." Proverbs 16:3
2. When I feel as if I'm swimming in my worries and discouragement, God will not let me drown:
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you." Isaiah 43:2
1. To sum it all up:
"Give all your worries to God, for he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
The ups and downs of this life are nothing that I cannot handle, because I have a guide to lead and comfort me no matter what tomorrow, next week, next month, or even next year holds! These little reminders can turn a glum and heavy-hearted perspective into a hopeful and buoyant new take on circumstances that might discourage us. Believe these words, remember them, and share them with others.
