Stop lying to yourself. You have definitely belted this song at some point in your life. For some amazing reason this song keeps coming back into your life and giving you the little boost that you need to make it through your daily struggles. R. Kelly was surely thinking about you when he wrote this song.
1. How the song starts.
R. Kelly is a genius for starting the song off with "Now usually I don't do this, but uh..." when clearly he usually does do this. You feel somehow connected when you hear this first line because you keep telling yourself the same thing while throwing back vodka water limes every Saturday at The Strip.
2. No singing ability needed.
Unlike most songs, this song has no crazy high notes. You won't have to worry about straining your voice because you can just talk the lyrics. It's perfect for when you've had a bit too many and can't fully channel your inner Beyoncé.
3. It's basically a PG song.
This song is socially acceptable to scream on the top of your lungs because it uses "freaking" instead of the big boy word. Thanks R. Kelly.
4. Perfect beat to dance to.
Okay those that can actually dance are probably disagreeing with this statement, but those that need a few drinks in them to start shaking that booty, you understand. How can you not dance when you hear "bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce"???
5. "Toot Toot"
Thank you R. Kelly for writing the most influential lyric of all time. No matter where you are or what you're doing, when you hear this you have to stop and say it/toot your imaginary horn/shake that imaginary fart out.
6. "Beep Beep"
Ditto.
7. It brings everyone together.
When you start singing this song, it is the universal sign for females that says "Hey I'm basic, let's be friends" and lets guys know that "Yes I am probably in a sorority". This song makes relationships blossom, whether it's just for the night or for a long time.
8. It puts you in a better mood instantly.
Let me paint you a picture: You are out and you see Ricky talking to Becky, but you have a crush on Ricky. You mentally told Ricky that he isn't allowed to talk to any other girls especially Becky. You get angry and go to throw your tequila sunrise at him when you hear those God sent words; Ignition (Remix). Your mind goes to a better place and you don't care if Ricky is talking to Becky, Betsy, or Bertha because you have R. Kelly. Instant better mood.
So these reasons may or may not be scientifically proven, but they all are perfect reasons for why this song is such an oldie but a goodie. Whip out your CD player, radio, or Aux cord and give a big thank you to the white girl theme song.
Peace. Love. R. Kelly.
