10 Relevant Halloween Costumes For College Students

Finding novel Halloween costumes can be hard, and sometimes creating a clever costume just becomes confusing for others. To avoid confusion and stay relevant with the times, I have created a list of 2015 pop-culture approved costumes to choose from.

1. Leslie Knope and Crew

I think many of us are still mourning the end of Parks and Rec so why not revive some beloved characters. Everyone except Jerry.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-Love of all things breakfast

-Business casual clothing

-To Treat yo Self

2. Derek Zoolander

In 2016 the very delayed sequel to the beloved high fashion satire Zoolander is coming out so why not channel your inner model.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-Blue Steel Pose

-To be really really ridiculously good looking.

-Orange Mocha Frappuccino

Want to make it a couple’s costume? Add Hansel, he’s so hot right now.

3. Kylie Jenner

Clearly the most buzzworthy Kardashian of 2015 (sorry Kim) with her sister Kendall coming in a close second.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-Lip liner...a lot of lip liner

-Clothes two sizes too small for your body

-Constantly pouting and trying to live up to your sisters expectations

4. Feeling Myself Music Video

Miley, What’s good? Now you and a friend can finally channel your inner Queen B or Nicki and rock some seriously #flawless fashion.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-Leotards

-Faux Fur Shawls

-A whole lotta sass

5. ‘Shame’ Nurse

Yeah, you remember this bell-slinging nurse from arguably the longest nude scene in Game of Thrones, nay HBO history.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-A bell

-A robe

-The ability to say “Shame’ throughout the entire night

How to make this a couple costume...on second thought maybe don’t.

6. Margarita Man from Jurassic World

Psh, Chris Pratt is so yester-year. Be the true hero of Jurassic World and dress up like this man who has his priorities straight.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-Two margaritas at all times

-Tourist outfit

-Be Jimmy Buffett

7. Ruby Rose a.k.a. Stella

It takes quite the person to cultivate mass popularity from being in just 8 episodes of a series. Well that’s exactly what this androgynous pop culture icon did thanks to the wildly popular Netflix series Orange is the New Black.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-Women’s Prison Uniform

-Perfectly coiffed hair

-Australian accent

8. J.K. Simmons from Whiplash

Ever wanted an excuse to be a complete asshole? Found it. Channel your inner Gordon-Ramsay-as-a-band-teacher and really give people something to be scared of this Halloween.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-A tight, black crew neck shirt

-Band minions to follow you around all night

-An Oscar

9. Harley Quinn

With the highly anticipated, anti-hero movie Suicide Squad coming to theaters in 2016 the Harley Quinn costume will surely be a popular choice at the next Comic Con. Get ahead of the crowd and rock this clown-princess-psychoatric patient look this Halloween.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-Multi-colored pigtails

-Sexy clown or jester outfit?

-An unhealthy obsession with the Joker

10. Amy Schumer

Want an excuse to be a Trainwreck? Of course you do. Amy Schumer has fallen into the spotlight this year and may I say for the better. This comedy queen is far from bashful, but has already become an icon for young women in the most explicit ways.

What You’ll Need for this look?

-Cocktail(s)

-An unfiltered opinion

-Zero cares

Happy Halloween!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
