Have you ever been stuck trying to find your own happiness while also feeling that the only way to find it is with the boy you've become so comfortable with? A lot of us have been there going back and forth trying to decide whether being in a committed yet restricting relationship is more important than focusing on yourself. Here are ten reasons why self-love is far more satisfying than a boy holding you back.
1. You Can Make Decisions For Yourself
There's no give and take anymore. You choose the movie you want to go to or see your friends whenever you want. The freedom you find in making even the smallest decisions on your own will change your perspective on a lot of things.
2. More Money
It all adds up; the date nights, the movies, the vacations. Sometimes you don't even realize how much you're spending on somebody else until you're not with them anymore. Use that cash to get the clothes you want and the Michael Kors purse you've been eyeing for years. YOU DO YOU GIRL!
3. Family Becomes a Higher Priority
Family dinners and holiday parties will be more about the quality conversations and time with the people you love rather than time spent trying to make a good impression with his side of the family.
4. Look Good For YOU
Wear that dress that's been hanging in the closet for too long. You aren't doing anything wrong by showing off the body you were given and nobody should ever be able to control what you want to wear. With your new found independence you may find a whole new style or look for yourself.
5. Friends
Self explanatory. They've been through everything with you and that will never change, so give them your time.
6. Alone Time
Wake up at noon or stay in bed. Watch Friday Night Lights and drool over Tim Riggins until you finish the series. Who cares. You should be able to have days that are spent just doing things for yourself.
7. Motivation
Now that you're single you may have more motivation to get fit and feel better about yourself. Eating healthy and staying in shape can really change your life and who knows, maybe there will be someone cutie running next to you on the treadmill.
8. New Perspectives
Expand your horizons! Find out what you really want. Go on a lot of dates, kiss a lot of boys; there's nothing wrong with figuring out what you really want. Your taste may change and that's okay. It's all about finding yourself.
9. The Bed to Yourself
SPRAWL OUT GIRL. Good riddance to the snoring... YOU WILL NOT BE MISSED I PROMISE. No need to worry about morning breath and looking ratchet. Wake up with the peace of mind that you're the only one who has to look at yourself in the mirror everyday.
10. Redefining Love
There's nothing wrong with being in a relationship (if you're happy). But if it feels like you're questioning yourself and you feel unhappy then it might be time for a break. Before you can love someone else you need to learn to love yourself first. With that you will find someone who makes you truly happy, so take your time. Enjoy the company of friends, family and the world around you.
Everyone is on the hunt for happiness, but what everyone has a hard time realizing is it starts with you.
